Allan just as an aside my memory is that we sat next to each other and raced in Auckland in the "World Short course" event about 2008?allanhallberg wrote:Going well thanks Lindsay.
Yep, I had this misguided thought of staying in the top 100. Then there were some great times. Shame about the 2 nearly full boats would have been awesome to get them full as well. Good luck with your attempt Lindsay. Allan
(My first race experience!) You were monster strong back in the day! (NZealand strongest man?)

Yes it has been a while, I remember you doing well that day.
Tried another 10k today, decided to take two bites to get under 38 min, managed 38m 4.2 so happy with that.

Strong yes, guy also pulled 1.36 last month on the 5. If that was serious a 6.00 rower. So in theory 1.17/16 is possible for a wordclass athlete. those guys pull 1.30 on the 5.lindsayh wrote:Dirk has done a nice one! @1:26 - good to see him back with a CTC that suits him too.

Re: Forum Flyers
Thanks Lindsay. I feel there might be another 3 to 5 second improvement overall for this challenge, maybe Monday for me as well.
I looked back and now think the rowing comp was 2007 in Auckland. Remember doing some relays as well, they were a new and interesting experience.
Had 1 crack many years ago at World Strongest Man, didn't really know what I was doing so needless to say didn't go that well. Knowledge and experience count in these type of comps so got a lot better at some NZ events in the early nineties. Change of direction after that and got in to multisports events (run/bike/run).
Now - back to rowing machine.

Yep 2007 it was and a fun couple of days. The relays are good - the racing here often has then on the schedule - 4x500m on and off often mixed teams.allanhallberg wrote:Thanks Lindsay. I feel there might be another 3 to 5 second improvement overall for this challenge, maybe Monday for me as well.

We have a Flyer Ewen (macroth) in Switzerland who has been competing in Strongman comps for a few years now - he often tosses in an entry for the CTC as well - he is not huge but very strong and said the same thing about knowledge/experience as well.

CTC tonite - it is a tricky one
5:48.0 @1:34.6 (tried 45" between the 177s and 2' around the 777m)
first 3 @1:30
777 @1:38
last 3 @1:34
I am developing a serious new anxiety condition - "fear of being beaten by Allan H"
Just in front for the moment.

Re: Forum Flyers
I took a turn at the CTC this morning. I knew the 777m was going to be deceiving but it still ended up surprising me. I think maybe I upped the drag a bit too much from my usual setting as the legs felt very heavy for that portion. Hopefully, I can improve a bit with one or two more tries before the end of the month.

Its indeed very thin, for a average erger this is also absolute not a session he/would like or do. A fitness erger likes a middle distance plot.
