I was scheduled to do an hour long Internet piece, but there were problems so instead I decided to have a go at 1k. 1k warmup, 5 minutes rest and the hammer time.

Previous PB 3:22.2, new time

3:19.1

3.1 seconds off. Cool logo, Daren. Daren is the pb king. Sub 3.20 is phenomenal.

Pardon my ignorance, Daren but what is DPS and acronym for.

Bernard

DPS in this case is "distance per stroke" in metres. I include it because my log parsing script gives me the information so it's no effort to work out, and I've heard people proffering 10m per stroke as some sort of benchmark to aim for. (Although I have also read the arguments between PaulS and others on this forum regarding that same benchmark).

Yet another great PB Daren well done. Interesting to see the comment in the UK Forum that a sub 3:20 1K is a strong indicator for a sub 7:00 2K (bet it makes you wonder!).

What was your DF for the 1K?

Drag factor was the same as ever - around 120. Might not be exactly 120 as I put the lever on max for a 500m effort yesterday (DF 213), and just guessed when I put it back at my normal drag.

Great work Daren!

I think you should have a special avatar to use on your (frequent!) PB days. Make one with a little yellow jersey on Taff! Of course you would have to switch to the plain one on nonPB days.

I think the logo is really great--let's get on with the shirts!!!!

Carla

Niall:

The DF of 213 is the only way I can get the "really low" splits. I find it really hard to get down to around 1:35 with my usual 120 drag, but with a high drag I can power it to 1:2x. Of course, I run out of steam before the full 500m is up, but it's still faster than trying to whizz away at a stroke rate of 40+ on a lower drag. =)

Carla:

I believe Bore Da! has something in mind as far as team apparel goes, and I don't want to tread on any toes. I'm not sure if he intends to use this logo or not, but I'll ask him about it.

Too short notice to get anything sorted for BIRC though, I should think.
