Hats off to Ray who's clearly been spending every spare moment on the erg. I'm sure it was only a few days ago I saw his total metres on 2000 and I've just had a look now and it's jumped to 5,500!

Great effort and focus Ray, way to go and keep it up mate, every metre counts!

Martin,

I'm really not sure about the marathon piece. Personally I'd rather do two or maybe even three pieces in a day that amount to the marathon distance but I know my body or the time commitment (in one stretch) wouldn't be able to do the marathon. Sorry to put a downer on it as I'm normally Mr Positive but my own personal circumstances and ability would prefer an overall distance target (30-40K) which I could do in multiple sessions if necessary.

Graham,

How did the squash go??

Hi

I did my routine, setting a new 1k pb on the last repeat and 500 metre best.

The 1k - 3'31 and the 500 m was 1'34.4. So that's another 11.5k - what with the warm-up, cool down and interval paddles.

My nose is now streaming with cold and my head hurts. The hot flushes have started and so I'm going to just sit here at work and drink my lemsip and feel sorry for myself. I may even do some work.

No erging for the next couple of days, so go on, Niall, take advantage of a sick man.

Martin, I have to side with Niall and say that I couldn't row a marathon in one sitting. A half-marathon, yes, maybe followed by one the following day, but I really couldn't eat a whole one.

Hey, congratulations on the 1k and 500m PBs, especially a) at the end of a session and with a head full of cold. Great stuff. =)

Hey Dwayne

I won't train like that again while I'm ill, I feel really bad. Hopefully, I'll be rid of those horrible little germs after a good night's sleep, so I can resume preparation for BIRC and resume my titanic struggle with Niall. I wonder if we can pass a million before the end of the year?

Did you get the email I sent you about your training programme? I sent it a couple of days ago.

Bernard

30 minutes this morning. 7738m, avg pace 1:56.3, 28-33 SPM, 6.6-8.6 SPI, 130-176 BPM

5k this evening, 18:42.2, avg pace 1:52.2, 28-33 SPM, 7.2-9.3 SPM, 150-187 BPM.

The 5k actually shaved 2.6 seconds off my previous PB of 18:44.8, so I'm quite pleased with that coming on the top of the 30 minutes earlier. Got me 2 more nonathlon points, too. =) Oddly, although my heart rate was into the 180+ range for quite some time, I didn't feel this was as taxing as the 2K, so maybe I do feel the muscular fatique more than I realise (I've always put it down to breathing and CV fatigue more before).
I wasn't going for a particular time as I had no idea what I'd be able to do as all my training was done on a cross trainer. Eek!

I'd be up for trying for 1,000,000 in a weekend or something. How much would we each have to row?

Over a weekend we might be able to get closer. For example, I could do at least 30km each on two days, making 60km for the weekend.

Depends how many take part and how fit we all are. =)

Well done on the half marathon. I still can't run at all. Makes me knackered after about 2 minutes. =)
