Paul Flack in the blue worker bee shirt is a genuine gentleman. He helped me find the locker rooms twice. I don't mean I found them once and misplaced them. I mean he had to help me twice to find them the first time. Patrolling the back corridors is not a glamour job! I finally figured out that over the boards and thru the bullpen was most direct route for participant/spectator.

Nice pic Guys, does show our strenght re age
Ctc today. Not without trouble. Where to start...
First having a cold, not really had a sore throat, now headcold.... First time in a long while.
Seconds since a few weeks my left knee, which is instable, acts wierd on me. At the catch it pops, pretty severe, not good at all. Right now don,t know I could counter that. Will get me a kneeband/brance...
The row itself, warm up felt ok ish, but feeling the way I do, and given my fitness, did know it would be not great. Also not in the mood to really go in the hurtbox. So halfway I was already done. Starting started to get slow.
And on top, after my last, 10th rep, the pm, shut down on me, memory was empty. So had to go from memory....
90sec on, 30 off, 125 drag, rating 29/30 ish.
4544m overall:456 454 453 451 452 450 451 446 450 481m last rep showed I could not really give myself today.
Don,t know 100% sure, first and last three I do. Has too do though.![Mad :x](./images/smilies/icon_mad.gif)

Re: Forum Flyers
CTC last day of the month so had to be done (64 in a row now) - been a busy month!
As Henry said it becomes a kind of a must do even if not 100%
Found a spot today with Mark Christie at the gym which was good as we are often close and he hates it when I beat him.
10x 90"/30"R => 4339m @1:43.7
Went off hard and then backed off when it got tough to make sure I finished it. I think one that would benefit from a few trys to get the pacing better - I suspect around 1:41/2
df135 sr32 314w
1:41.5, 41.5, 41.8, 41.5, 42.7, 43.2, 44.6, 47.3, 46.1, 46.1
mark did 4335 @1:43.8 - got him

Re: Forum Flyers
6 boats this month, decent turnout. Dragana decided to give the ctc another go yesterday so I couldnt resist coaching a little.
Ended up just 3 meters shy of her target (Kathy's time for a spot in boat nr.2), but a 1.5 sec improvement in splits none the less.
I'd like to claw myself up a boat, but the torn callouses on my hands combined with an on-water regatta this weekend spell
steady state erging only this week.

6 is ok for us.
We should aim for 8 next month. A straight, not overly long sesh should be good to do, for most.

yes Henry a good goal - we have filled 6 consistently for a while and this could be one to recruit and twist arms a bit as it is "our" month.hjs wrote:6 is ok for us. We should aim for 8 next month. A straight, not overly long sesh should be good to do, for most.
We should also encourage those who want to do the BobS memorial in his memory alone so some may join us for this one.

Re: Forum Flyers
Better late than never, and better slow than not at all right? 5.30pm GMT on the 28th!
Only my 3rd time on the erg in the last 2 weeks - had a bad chest cold, so easing my way back into it a bit. First 9 reps between 395 and 405m, 413m in the last for 4,028m in total - this means I beat Terry by a single meter into boat II- certainly not intentional!
So this was 1:51.7 - 251W, and 95% of the power of my Jan CTC entry. Of the 333 people who had entered both Jan and Feb scores at time of writing this would rank me 303 out of 333 in terms of Jan power / Feb power - a couple of other illness impacted Flyers (Jack and Henry) also had lower power in Feb than Jan - Lindsay at 1.04 was bang on the median.

Rohan does that just mean that I am very very average? Not sure it that is good or bad!Bloodbuzz Corio wrote: Of the 333 people who had entered both Jan and Feb scores at time of writing this would rank me 303 out of 333 in terms of Jan power / Feb power - a couple of other illness impacted Flyers (Jack and Henry) also had lower power in Feb than Jan - Lindsay at 1.04 was bang on the median.
March 1 here last night coincided with a trip to the gym and a fortuitous meeting with Mark Christie so first go at the Bob challenge.
Will do it a few times I think so a fairly cruisy 5142m @1:52.7 (though the MHR ended up pretty high 170). Just a good solid 5km training piece. Have a hard 10k for the IRL this month later. Mark went harder and got to @1:50.7 which pleased him in present state of (un)fitness
Put a note out in the training thread to encourage anyone to join us as part of the memorial month

Good to see I ended up in boat 4 in last month's challenge, wondered where all the big guns got to.
Going to be a bit cooler here tomorrow so will give the challenge a crack.

more "pop" guns than big guns Allan I am afraid compared to the artillery currently playing the game but we are still in there punching away.
Good luck with the challenge - we are cooling down a little now - just finished the hottest summer ever here.

Re: Forum Flyers
Rohan, sorry to hear that you're still not 100%. I like your thinking there on the power ratios, would have been useful to see those kind of stats before setting out on the more complex CTCs where the pacing is bit of a mystery. Have you got it all set up to calculate those easily or is it a faff? My 1.06 on that stat reflects a relatively poor effort in Jan. Will have a first crack at the Bob row later and see if I can match a cruisy Lindsay, although probably not.Bloodbuzz Corio wrote:So this was 1:51.7 - 251W, and 95% of the power of my Jan CTC entry.

Did the challenge today, a bit cooler out in the shed and finished with 19m40, so happy with first attempt. Great photo guys, I must get hold of Shirley to see what she is up to.

Re: Forum Flyers
John, I hadn't looked at it before, but it's very straightforward. At the start of Feb there were a couple of questions floating around about relative pace of the Feb challenge to the Jan challenge and I saw at least one response (maybe on FB) that they would be similar, so as it got near to the end of the month thought it would be interesting to see. Also had the advantage of being consecutive months so fitness wouldn't have changed much for most folks!JohnAd wrote:Have you got it all set up to calculate those easily or is it a faff?
I guess for any individual just doing the CTC a couple of times is probably a better indication - but for some of the more esoteric challenges in the future certainly happy to look at comparisons to any given previous month or months if it would help or be of interest - and probably will do for my own benefit!
Hope you're well BTW - how is the OTW stuff going?

Re: Forum Flyers
Thanks, I'm going pretty well, still plugging away OTE doing my own PP lite thing with a bit of weights as well. My OTW thing was pushed back until the end of April so I have a bit more base/strength building to get in before then.Bloodbuzz Corio wrote: Hope you're well BTW - how is the OTW stuff going?
On the CTC thing yes I was thinking it would be useful for the more esoteric ones and if you didn't want to have too many goes at it an idea of what sort of pace to be aiming for would be handy.
