LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

A member of an indoor rowing team or club? If so, this is the place for you.

Can this one team row to the moon and back?

Hi Blacksmith!

I am sure I will not be the only one to respond, the LUNA-TICS are certainly active and always welcome more members, and as you can see from this really lengthy thread, incredibly supportive....

You could do a lot worse than join us!

PS: to anyone wondering why I have not been posting any metres since the January challenge, it is not bad news, I've been caravaning around the coast of New South Wales and some national parks, and my wife would not let me take the erg :(

Plenty of opportunities to cycle and kayak, though!

Home now, I'll be back on the erg a bit later.

Absolutely welcome! And just in time, too..March Mudness Madness Challenge is almost upon us! Our journey to the moon is a long one, best improved by camaraderie shared with our teammates.

It's the team members who keep the team active - and many times it can seem that we have gone "quiet". I think it's important and fair to note that many teams struggle with what seems like a lack of participation as well - that's the nature of teams! Some of our teammates are more seasonal, and sometimes the rower or ski-erg can be left forgotten in the corner as our interests turn to other things. Or teammates find that our focus doesn't quite fit what they wanted for a team - and they move on. Good to have fresh voices.

Welcome, Blacksmith! Lunatics are a very friendly bunch and, IMO, a great choice :D . Members run the gamut regarding rowing expertise and location. Wherever they are, member support and humor have always been a strength. K2 and many others put a lot of effort into making the team site a place to come and smile after the pressures of work, etc. Helps that we have many dog and animal lovers! Welcome and best wishes on your rowing endeavors.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 2.19.17

Post by Kona2 » February 20th, 2017, 11:41 am

Image The Southern Hemisphere is headed for Fall, and we're hoping for a quick Spring. (This said with knowledge that we're expecting snow in these environs later this week!)

Meanwhile, the galactic gauntlet has been sighted, and I think I threw it down. Not talking about running the gauntlet where you have to make your way through a crowd to reach your objective...no....we turn back to a long ago time, a time of suits of armor and heavy metal gloves. I'm pretty sure I've only been a meter multi-millionaire one other year. It struck me that I could do that again this year if I worked at it a bit. Let's see..70 days remaining in the 2017 erging season, about 500K to go....oh yes. I could totally do this. So I looked at the roster as I do most days..and told Minnie in a message that if she wasn't careful, I was going to pass her on the roster.....naturally, competitive sort that she also is....she has responded with a we'll see about that! Stay tuned. Sometimes you have to create incentives, and I'm sure that it's my role to help manufacture these....

Today brings Image palindromes and a Image - a good start to the week!

Always welcome new teammates! You have picked the best - but just a little biased...

We hope you decide to join and have fun along the way.

Happy Rowing,

Welcome on board Mark!

I just looked up the Blackburn Challenge, it sounds like a great day (and just a little crazy)! What craft do you intend to compete in, and will you be part of a team?

Do you have to hop into the shower fully clothed before you start your erg session to simulate the conditions?

Adding my welcome aboard... Also curious what kind of boat/kayak/...
I noticed a post where you said you were recovering from shoulder surgery. Is that pretty much behind you now?

Yes, the shoulder surgery was 2 years ago. Took 6 months after to recover and rehab. Then I got fat and lazy.... The Blackburn is a remarkable event. I am building a Chester Yawl for the race. I like traditional type rowing. http://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/rowb ... t-kit.html

Also, I am either going solo, or my son will team up with me. I have done it once solo in a Wine Glass Wherry by Pygmy boats, and once with my son as a team.
