I can see the reason for it though. Another forum I visit has been plagued with spammers flogging fitted units for the room whose name may not be spoken. This forum is mercifully free of it.
lmao.
I wondered why one of my posts had been censored - i thought autocorrect was at fault... seriously - the wifes place of work is not allowed...

Hi Edward, going into a steady row yes it's low intensity, but if anyone does endurance intervals and doesn't

Color me mad. I'm up to about 11 million meters at sub 2:00/500m and never warm up. My PBs over 2K were all done with no warm up. My PB 2K was done at a race where I warmed up, but my prior 2K PBs were either done with no warmup or a 5K piece at 2:00/500 as a "warmup". I also don't cool down. I've done some incredibly tough pieces with no warm up or cool down. I imagine everyone's body chemistry is different but if these things are as important as you suggest it would be hard to imagine how I can only think of one injury that had any linger effect in that entire time.

For endurance stuff i just warm up with squats/high steppers and a few mins light dumbbells. Bit of stretching then i'm all hot to trot.
Never a good idea to go into anything completely cold thats for sure.

I've often wondered if I'd have my best shot at a decent 500m with no warmup at all. Usually feel like whatever warmup I'd done had somehow taken more than it gave.
I've always been the same with lifting. Can never be bothered with dozens of warmup sets starting with an empty bar. I especially like the Pavel approach of just leaving the bar loaded up and go lift it for a couple of sets each day. If you need a warmup it's too heavy.

@ bisqeet: Dean, you remember Glenn Walters doing two full dress EF warmups back to front as a workout. Called it the EFFE or sometimes the FEEF depending on the placement of the reverse rate/pace/duration sequence, no filling in the cookie? 39.5' of WUP and down! I'm mildly surprised that you haven't done something in this manner with rate ladders and consecutive HMs?

Only if you don,t have real pb s, you can get away with. We simply need time to get al systems working 100%, THAT COUNTS FOR EVERYBODY. On longer pieces ofcourse you build into the session. Other point is time of the day, have you been active before, that could have been your warm up. No serious athlete in any sport does not need a warm up for a max result.
The faster and stronger one is, the more warm up is needed.

No idea why some are happy to risk injury just because they can't be bothered to WU. Bizarre stuff tbh!!!

So those capable of 1400+ watts average for 10" should be warming up for _______?

I actually set up the workout to be "eddy in" and then "eddy out". The out portion was the reverse of the in portion. Sort of fun.

I'm talking about 90 seconds of hard work here. And I'm not talking serious athlete levels or even close. And I'm not talking about jumping out of bed and straight onto the erg to pull a world record.
But 90 seconds of work is not a lot. How much warmup is really necessary for that? How much warmup is too much before it becomes detrimental?
And finally, I'm not saying it IS the answer, just that I wonder how it would go.

I just think some form of warm up should be done no matter what. If you plan to do a workout, warm up for it. Simple as that really!
As for how long do you warm up for, all depends on the individual!! I know when i'm warm enough and loose enough to then go and undertake my workouts.
It takes less than a second to do yourself an injury.
