Hi Ivan, nice to have met you in the flesh, pretty beat up atm, must be age, although three starts in a short while could have something to do with it.ivan141 wrote:Had the pleasure of meeting up with HJS in real life this morning at the 'HEK', a small indoor rowing event hosted by dutch rowing club Hemus.
Knowing my opposition, I didn't set my expectations too high, but I actually had fun despite having to trail behind Henry and Wiecher.
Did the individual 500 & 1000m events with both fellow flyers and some of my club teammates, finished off with a team 1k event for which
Henry 'completed' my club team (someone on my team got sick and couldn't attend).
I knocked nearly 3 seconds off of my 500m PB (1:33.2 down to 1:30.4), and about 11 (!) seconds off my 1k PB (3:27.7 to 3:16.8). Chuffed as a monkey with 2 bananas about that.
Henry meanwhile medaled in both the 500m with a 1:21 and the 1k with a 3:03 or something thereabouts. Wiecher kept me away from the nr.2 spot, but at
least that makes for less of a chasm between the times. Had to settle for 4th in the 1k because Hemus had an erg weapon of their own in that race.
TL/DR: glad I competed, crushed my PB's, would do something like this again.
Give it all Lindsay, make sure you did everything you can. Keep your plan and pull yourself fully empty in the last minute.lindsayh wrote:Well done Ivan Henry and Weicher
Ivan race days are a lot of fun - well worth the trouble and give a point to our training
I am putting lots of faces to names this weekend - having a ball
Go for it Lindsay! Enjoy every second and be proud on the result!lindsayh wrote:Well done Ivan Henry and Weicher

Great result for all of you. Improving a pb always feels super but crushing them like you did Ivan is really great. Congrats!ivan141 wrote:Had the pleasure of meeting up with HJS in real life this morning at the 'HEK', a small indoor rowing event hosted by dutch rowing club Hemus.

Chris Cooper USA 6:39.7ivan141 wrote:Wow, way to go Lindsay! Who got first?
So you beat the Dreissigacker brothers, that must feel good
thanks guys it was a lot of fun. Chris Cooper set a new WR 2 weeks ago and nearly matched it today which made it tricky. There was no way I was going to do 6:40 even in a perfect world. I gave my self a chance by being close at 1k but he was then just a it strong. Would have loved 2-3" faster but comfortable with the outcome - it is a SB and best for a while so won't beat myself up too much about the time - it was a great day catching up with a good group of Flyers and forumites and watching some amazing athletes (including Chris of course)ivan141 wrote:Wow, way to go Lindsay!
