I missed that. Well done, Godfried! Great stuff. Not just the million, but even more the marathon. I haven't been able to face that yet, although I've done two or three half marathons. The main problem, Martin, is that I won't have time to do a full marathon before I break the first million. I have 67471m left to row, but today, Thursday and Friday are work days so I can't find the 3-4 hours needed. I plan on passing 1 million on Friday (another 21k today, 28k tomorrow leaving me with a mere 18471 to do on Friday), but my first opportunity to do a full marathon will be Saturday, maybe Sunday. I might do one in celebration instead. =)

Besides, I've never done 42km in one day, let alone one sitting.

Hi

Did my 12k last night. Just did a quick interval/sprint session- about 5000 metres in all. I've hurt my back a little, but I think that's down to bad technique. I'll have to start doing PaulS's strapless stuff soon to stop the twinges.

Well rowed Godfried and congratulations on the million metres. Good luck with your rows to get to a million metres Daren.

Bernard

Another 10k in the Taffybank, and a new PB time for the distance to boot.

My last 10k was done on Sept 17th in a time of 42:35.9 (2:07.8). Splits about 2:09, power output was about 165W and a 29/30 stroke rate.

The one I just did was 40:29.5 (2:01.5) which is a new PB by about 2 minutes.

As far as the online rankings go, it's still 57% of the way down for my age range and build. In fact, all my longer distances are well down (60mins 63%, HM 58%). The shorter distances are in the 40-50% range mostly, so I guess I'm just built more for shorter distances.

Congrats to all you October 4 marathoners out there. It was nice of you to pick my birthday as your marathon day. I am suitably impressed with an under 3 hours 10 minutes time, as it takes me at least another half hour to do one.

I have about 100,000 meters to go to reach my 2nd million.

How did you handle the 'stopping to drink' problem?

Grams 3 hours 43 mins marathon age 62 since Monday, 133 pounds lightweight 5'3" tall

Hey Grams, Nice to hear from you on this thread.

Godfried's was a great effort wasn't it. But so was yours, a sub 3:45 marathon in one's 60's - only hope I can do that when my time comes to be in the 60 - 69 bracket. I haven't even done one yet so you are way ahead of me !

As for drinks - Rick Bayko has some good advice on 'drinking on the run' in an earlier post in this thread.

Happy (belated) Birthday wishes,

Martin

Dying badly with 11 mins to go trying to hold the pace (1:52) when a gorgeous bare midriff squirted me with her water bottle (can I read anything into that ladies ?). Next I recall it was only 7 mins to go and I was out of the 'danger' zone. Time for some Nonathlon 'daylight' between us !!!!

Cheers

Martin
