Smartphone Cradle?

Post by RobDMB » December 21st, 2016, 9:10 am

Was wondering what everyone thought of the Smartphone Cradle sold by Concept 2? How does it work for larger phones like the iPhone 7 Plus? Thanks.

The older cradle worked with almost anything - we used it with a MS Surface tablet and Blackberry Passport.

It looks like they have changed the design though. You might want to ask them for dimensions. Sorry not much help.

I have the old cradle, it's too small for modern day smartphones. It's designed to hold the phone in, but my phone (moto g) is too wide, and
goes over the little ledge on one side and so can't sit straight. The other problem is no retention mechanism, nothing to hold the phone in place
other than gravity. The phone will stay in place just fine during rowing, but my moving my erg aside sent my phone flying.
Really hope the new design is better suited for current phones, I can see they put a retention mechanism in place, but I'm not sure if that wont limit
what you can put in it.

The new cradle works with everything up to a 7Plus (or comparable sized Android). It won't fit an iPad or iPad mini.

Look into the range of Scosche Magic Mounts.

I got one for my car and it's so good I bought a second one for our other car.

It's a magnetic rotating stand with an adhesive back so you could mount it under the monitor arm or even on the top of your PM. Comes with two thin adhesive metal plates to either attach directly to the back of your phone or iPad, or a bigger one to mount to the inside of your case.

I assume you're referring to this:

Fits a Galaxy S5 with case. It's pretty cheap and relies on a lot of flexing of plastic, so I assume it will not last long.

Is there any possibility that you could be positive about something on this forum for once? Everything you've posted has appeared as a sniping complaint.
