Hopefully I should now be showing on the team members page for Taff Attack (thanks for the prompt Chris).
Having only just managed to complete a 5K row this week (and I remember times when I was doing up to 3x10K a day!!) I'm going to up the distance tomorrow and go for a 7K row. Wont be looking to beat any PBs just want to ocncentrate on increasing my metres per session.

I'll let you know how I get on.

My aim is to be able to start my challenge at the beginning of September and I've already contacted the Communications department in my company to raise the profile (for sponsorship). They've agreed to match any funds raised so that's great news.

I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Cheers,
Niall

"You reap what you row!"

Chris,
Seems you've started something of a trend. Looks as though the Scot's are getting into the National Hertiage spirit as well (Scotus Ergus).

Since you're such a trend setter, maybe you should be GB's next Prime Minister eh?

Speedy

Well as promised I completed my 7000m this afternoon. I must admit it wasn't as tough as I thought it was (after the 5K on Tuesday) but it was still hard work all the same. My time of 29:45.6 doesn't matter as I just wanted to make sure I could do the distance (my PB for 5K is 18:55.4).

I plan to do another 7K on the weekend and then next week it'll be a case of doing 7K on consecutive days and if I feel okay, towards the end of the week I'll throw in a 10K session.

Greetings taffers, I haven't posted in a while, so thought I'd say hello.

I've been pole-axed by a summer flu bug for the first two weeks of August, hence nil metres, but the coughing and spluttering finally subsided enough for me to get back on the erg this weekend. I have a week in which I can throw in the metres before I'm off to the less fair land for a week's hols. The aim is to get in 8 lots of 25k by Saturday, which should bring my monthly metres back up to respectable and more importantly, put me past the million mark for TA in the year to date.

Chippy, watch the curse of the Max HR a bit mate! My worst moment on the bike was along those lines a few years back. I had a measured max HR of 207 at the time which was high for my age. I threw all of my effort into a monster climb and looked down at the monitor to see it flashing 213. Shortly afterwards came chest pains and the inevitable collapse. I didn't do any damage, but it was definitely an "oh sh*t moment". After that, I've always been a bit wary of prolonged red-lining.

Row on folks, we're getting closer to 6th place slowly.

Welcome to the TA Niall.

Andy

Hi all you Taffy Taffs

Just checked the University standings, and I see you are still up near the top No.7, but what are you going to do about Team Oarsome, they are sitting at number 3. I see they have 8 more members then you, but you do have speedy who clocks nearly 200k a day

Oh, and Sir Lord Earl Adams, I am very dissapointed with the U.S.A Dream Team in the Olympics, I know it is a "junior Team" but these guys are all young and soon to be mega star players, yet it looks like they could not hit a cows arse with a bango at the moment, let alone score a 3 pointer. Beat Greece though (just) hope they sort it out

I diverse....sorry (I am a big Basketball fan)

Sir Pirate

Hey Taffians,

You guys are really pouring it on! Maybe we'll never catch those Ancient Mariners, but #6 must be getting nervous....

I'm rowing one-legged right now so it's slow but it's giving me a chance to build up my "lazy" leg.
