If anyone fancies a last minute entry the code INSPIRED gets you 15% off apparently.

I have just had a newsletter from BRIC about the race, they mention that the ergs can be brought as long as you collect them at the end of the day, cost £760 only used on that day with full two year guarantee. I am tempted to order one as I will have a car close by and I just can't seem to see a second hand one that at much of a saving to that. Even after a days use wouldn't have more than 100k on the clock would they, hardly run in...

I am not sure I would get away with telling my wife that I had won it ;)

It's normal for C2 to do that as it saves them the reboxing time and transport costs. You'll get a machine that started brand new at the start of the warm up for the first race and has a collection of warm-ups and 2K races on the clock for £100 off the list price. You can't go wrong with that.

Wow just seen the entry list for the event! Last year there were around 11 entries in the lwt 40-49. This year there are 33! There goes my chance of a top ten finish :)

There are 95 in the hwt 40-49 group. It is going to be spectacular.

It's a bit of a shame that my cold has interfered with my last three weeks preparation but I will do the best I can and will certainly enjoy it.

Piers I've had a bit of a cold over the last couple of days also - feeling much better today so hopeful of being back at 100% well before Saturday - but based on a combination of that and my time in Cardiff think I will be revising my target time up by a few seconds. Hope you're well on the mend now and as you say I'm sure it will be lots of fin either way. Looking forward to it!

Sorry to hear about your cold Rohan, but glad you are feeling better already so you should be 100% come Saturday (less than a week now!)

I must admit I am completely in the dark as what to target for my time, I was hoping for a sub 7:10 and a pb but after the last few weeks of just SS I'm guessing at 7:15. Today I'm going to try the ctc and see how that goes, hopefully I can get close to your distance...

BTW looking through the entry list British Rowing have certainly increased their presence. Last year there was only one LWT man from BR, this year I counted 8! They are also running a couple of teams in the relay race.

The draw is up, Piers and Rohan up at 9:55, Olivier(papy) up at 9:10. My time doesn't seem to be on there although it is on the entry list. The organisers do seem to be struggling, hopefully this will get sorted before Saturday, would be good to know what time I'm on.

I have to give a miss to the race this year. I only resumed erging 6 weeks ago after 2 1/2 months out and the fitness is still way off from where it should be. No point in doing anything silly and doing more damage than good.

However, I will definitely be there as spectator first thing in the morning to see the races until mid-day or so, and support you guys.

Thanks Olivier it will be good to see you. Mine and Rohans race is at 9:55 so you should see us in all our glory :) However as the competitor manual states
Changing facilities and showers are limited, so it is suggested that competitors avoid planning to use these facilities if possible.
It may be best if I don't sit too near you afterwards

Olivier, looking forward to seeing you, I'm in the 2nd race at 9:25 so hopefully I can find you afterwards and we can cheer on Piers and Rohan. Although as Piers says you might want to steer well clear if there really is a shortage of showers.

Piers you were obviously way ahead of me in reading the handbook + entry card - I didn't realise the 9:35 time you mentioned in another thread was the official marshalling time and we'll only have the opportunity to warm up after that. At only 20 min before race start does put some limit on the distance it'll be possible to include in the warmup!

John what erg are you on in your race so we know where to aim our cheering! (I did look in the schedule but couldn't see your name).

I'm sitting between two people who also raced in Cardiff a couple of weeks ago - though not the 2nd and 3rd place getters - people more around my time!

I'll be on erg 35, the online list only goes up to 32, hopefully they'll sort it out soon.

You guys must have to get there pretty early for your weigh-in, when are you aiming to turn up, I'll think I'll be there no later than 8:45.

I'm aiming to get there by 8:00. We have to be weighed between 7:55 and 8:55. This is getting very close now....
