Thanks for the welcome! I have rowed with you all off and on for the past few years, and am back on the rower. I look forward to getting back in rowing shape, getting to 2 million meters, and getting some good meters for the Luna-Tics on upcoming challenges.

Hi Kerry welcome back.

Hello new folks or even those who aren’t that new. Another segment of Thor’s tips wanted or not.
Be sure to oil the chain. Gotta take care of the pony.
Set some sort of goals for yourself. It is so easy to not row. I am in that mood now. Have been for a few weeks really. I have my weekly goal of 100K. I’ve held it for 13 weeks now. It is literally the only reason I am still rowing today. Get a goal that works for you be it weekly, daily or even monthly. Make it your priority. No matter what else happens, you will hit that goal. Personally a weekly target works for me. This way I have some time to make up for a missed day as required.
We have the big Holiday Challenge coming up, be sure you are rowing now to get in shape for that. Taking too much time off the rower is no longer a rest. I made this mistake before the May 1 marathon this season. I took a couple of weeks off and I paid for it during that marathon.
I hope someone got something out of this.
Rock on my friends.
Mighty Thor

Hi Team,

While watching the elections - thank God for sling box... I passed 35milion lifetime meters tonight.

Lets hope we can all come together! Remember to be nice to each other no matter who we voted for - we must do our best for one another... ok off my soap box...

I am trying to make it home for Thanksgiving, going to surprise the family.

Take care and Happy rowing,

Ed

Some days you just have to hug a puppy...or three...

And be glad when they are sleeping, just like human kids! Believe me, sometimes it is sheer bedlam ... particularly when there is a coveted toy involved. That's when yelling "Squirrel" works really well. Aerie, left pup of the duo, lays quietly by the rowing machine when I'm rowing....spirit of K9 Kona must be in that room...

Image Starts in TWO weeks...clear your calendars...!

Decide what amount of time you want to devote to the Challenge, and how you're going to fit those plans into your day or evening! The reindeer are already stomping around near the paddock....they are ready to fly!

ImageImageImage 12 days...to the start of the Holiday Challenge!

A few posts back, Thor gave us some tips about the Holiday Challenge:

Two things that Thor mentions (weekly goal to give yourself more schedule flexibility, and being careful about how much time you take off from erging) certainly resonated with me. I had to stop rowing for most of the last six weeks. Getting back to rowing now, it absolutely amazes me how much stamina one can lose in what I consider a short amount of time. Working back up to getting an hour in on the rower, well I have surely felt it...but hooboy, sound sleeping!

Image It's a trifecta! We had one Supermoon on October 16, the next one is Monday, and the third one is December 13th. The supermoon coming up on Monday..is the biggest one in six decades, and the biggest of the trifecta. This is a relative thing since the moon is only slightly larger than a normal full moon. Word is that this weekend's full moon should be a bright one as long as you have good atmospheric conditions in your area. Meanwhile, in anticipation of this event, Marathon Man Ed has thrown down a full marathon to earn his full moon!
