Logbook & timed intervals

Post by jrgibb64 » October 27th, 2016, 8:02 am

Hi first post - maybe because I'm using the older software to read and upload my training to the logbook??

I've just noticed on the logbook website with timed intervals it included the rest intervals and totals up the entire session and hence gives a false rowing time and pace??

ie 2 x 18mins with 3 min rest rowed at around 2.20 is showing as 7,860m 42:00.0 2:40.3 - rather than 7,860m 36:00:0 2:17.4

I know I'm not fast but I'd prefer that it be correct ;-)

Thanks J

That's just the way the Logbook has always worked. They add on your resting metres to the total distance and add the resting time to the elapsed. You're correct that it's 100% wrong. But for the overall metre counters who simply want to amass their largest possible lifetime metreage it's the best way. It's not ideal and until the logbook gets a rewrite to handle intervals properly it's something we have to live with.

It was one of the reasons I wrote some programs to read the *.CSV file from the utility program and stuff the data in a MySQL table.

Is that PM3/PM4 version related?

When I upload my times I see the correct pace for interval sessions. i.e.:

Is that from the logbook (website) or your PM4 software??

Mines from a PM3 at my gym, I take a data card and then upload to the Concept 2 Utility software via a card reader, all the intervals are there in the software, that's fine, it's when I upload to the logbook online that it rolls all the data together - it is the older software that's uploading it, I'll try the new version again but that doesn't like my datacard reader and often doesn't see it so I went back to the older version of the software.

The new C2 utility does result in the rest meters being separate from the intervals. In the online logbook you click on the magnifier (right column) and you will get a display like Sjors. The older versions of the C2 utility doesn't do this. Alternatively, if you export to CSV file from the logcard (any version of the C2 utility I believe) the rest meters are separate; doesn't help for the online logbook though.

I upload from a logcard /PM3 monitor and was pleasantly surprised to see the new version of the C2 utility did this; can't say I like everything about the new version but this is a plus.
