And now, for an historical perspective, The Weather Channel turns to its Key Largo office...
when Matthew was not even a gleam in his great grandfather's eye.
Say, you know how to whistle. don't you, Matthew?

And, what a sight when the wind and the rain cleared...
Back in 8th place in the Fall Team Challenge. Way to go!!!

K2, hoping there will soon be a little happy dance after surgery #1...
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Oh wow - great graphic! Yep, had left eye done on Friday...and so far...an unexpected outcome is that I can read well without reading glasses. I hope that outcome sticks around for a good while! The exercise restrictions are quite limiting for a week, and then they will discuss what I can and can't do for the next week. Shaun and other sheep cartoons and photos very good btw.danwho wrote: K2, hoping there will soon be a little happy dance after surgery #1...

I am so happy for you K2. I have the ability to read with my eyes closed. I just turn on my phone or computer. Plug in headphones and read away. haha.Kona2 wrote:Oh wow - great graphic! I think I need to say something. Living in a state that is often hard-hit by hurricanes, and facing one of the most fearsome hurricanes of recent years, I am really happy to see Matthew go, and really happy that we were spared what could have been the worst case scenario. But it certainly was not my intent to make light of what was a tragedy for many.
Regretting that I might have left that impression.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
As a boy, I remember the annual assignment of drawing the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria every Columbus Day, and learning that Columbus was the one to dispel the Flat Earth myth.
Later, of course, I learned that the notion the Earth was a sphere went back at least as far as the ancient Greeks, but just assumed that somehow during the Middle Ages, the Flat Earth model became prevalent again until Columbus.
And it wasn't until now, while trying to make a colorful intro to today's post, that I learned there is not even a whiff of truth to the notion that Columbus had a role in disproving the Flat Earth myth.
Completely made up, by the likes of Washington Irving - can't believe it... a home boy, no less - Rip Van Winkle slept in the mountains behind my childhood home. And he had a hand in reinventing history for generations of schoolchildren.
Of course, any feelings of outrage will soon subside when The Headless Horseman rides again ... and that's not too long a wait.
