I wouldn't be surprised if your beer PB from the weekend had something to do with that. I find that multi-day hangovers are punishment for the crime of drinking while over 40 and that the aerobic systems seem to be more effected than the anaerobic and on something of a lag. Use the SS to flush it all out but take it easy.

I had forgotten about that John. I will take the SS easy, flushing the last of my rental beer out sounds like a good plan.

Maybe the multiday hangover is something I need to work on too. I have too many of those. That and eating curry for lunch too late in the day.

AM: 30' run
PM: 3 x 5 tbdeads @ 300#,320#,340# after 5K hard distance erg:

Mike says:
- had to go back to page one on your introduction to refresh my memory with your PB 5K time
The introductory bio and everyday ramblings hide some revealing factoids (beer busts, shift work). No avoiding that. The spreadsheet  is a time-saving convenience for organizing and referencing objective results and progress for each of us. I don't find refreshing my memory backtracking thru 10 pages much fun and I particularly don't care for splits reports mixed in with self-analysis (yours or mine!) Monitor fotos and readymade reports (RowPro, ErgData, smartphone apps) are easy to spot in a hedgerow of verbiage. The spreadsheet is ideal for later review and reference. I encourage everyone to leave a few clues therein, however barebones. And, "Yes but" time IS precious and we didn't join up for the joys of data entry.

PP W3D3 - Waterfall. Pete suggests 5k+1 pace for this, so decided to start off at 2:14 and speed up once I felt comfortable.

3k 2:13.3 r23
2.5k 2:13.1 r23
2k 2:12.7 r23
Average 2:13.1 r23

Felt very comfortable for 1-2k and thinking I should have gone off faster, then I started feeling it  . By the second interval, I knew I'd picked the right pace to start and ended up with a solid (and sweat-filled) session.
Piers, I can see how setting off even 0.5s faster at the beginning could really hurt on this one. Seems as if correct pacing is key here.

Nice Sanz, it's the 3k (or the last 1K of it) that jolts the system isn't it.

That's certainly when you start to notice the pace! I find long intervals tough, so the second one was a challenge too. The good thing about this session is that you look forward to 'just' a 2k

Glenn, very nice 5k, pretty close to your PB, you'll have sub-19 in no time.

Sanz, very nicely judged waterfall

Following up from Jack's post the times spreadsheet is here

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... qxVek_89E0

There a tab for PP and well as one for BPP

If anyone has any trouble editing this fire me a PM.

I find the smartphone app for google sheets is pretty good and lets me edit this at work even though my corporate firewall blocks google apps.

This will come into it's own as we go into the next cycle and we can look at progression on the same sessions.

Thanks to whoever has been posting my workouts!

So I have the app, but how do I see the shared spreadsheet?

My split for this 5k was same as 6k last week, but it sure didn't feel any easier or more comfortable. I guess it depends on the day! Had no desire on this one to push through. Hopefully soon.

On the iphone you click on the 3 line i ching thing in the top left corner to get the menu and go in via either shared with me or google drive.

Ditto! I went to try to catch up and only had to post a few. Thanks whoever put mine in. I managed to update the rest of mine. Thanks for the nudge Jack! I noticed, too, I had one distance in my log screwed up and had forgotten too to add in my Labor Day SS workout (so my log was also off too). It's caught up now.

@ Glenn - Very nice 5K. Strong!

@ Sanz - nice work Sanz. Very well planned!

I also went to post my times and found a lot already there so thanks to the mysterious updater.

Nice 5k Glenn, going to dip into the 18's soon.

Nice pacing Sanz as you say it's a fine line on that one.
