Would a new Ranking table designed to record total metres rowed for that season be a good idea? It could be open to all ages, genders and weights providing another incentive to rack up those metres.

Your opinion please.

Cheers

John

On a related subject, I have suggested several times that there be a ranking page for lifetime meters. This would be independent of age, weight, or gender and would be rewarding to long time ergers. It might also provide incentive - passing the gal or guy one step above in the standings.

john

There is no way to list and compare lifetime meters, nor is there a way to compare everyone, based on annual meters, based on age, sex, weight, etc. That might not be the hardest feature to program as it's just a new query and sort. Ha ha, easy for me to say.

Regards -- Mark

The first thing I'd like to see is at least an "option" to separate the meters based on gender.

Not considering weight and age, there's about a 10% difference in physical capacities between women and men.

This is reflected in the total meters that either is able to accumulate over time.

I would love to see a Lifetime Meters Honors Board. I think it would be a great motivator to keep rowing, day after day, year after year.
2006 will be my first full season as a log participant and I spend a lot of time looking at the names around mine on the Annual Meters Honors Board to see who I have passed recently and who might pass me. Since the length of my workouts has increased significantly since last May I get to see my Average Daily Meters rise every day (as long as don't miss a day) and I am motivated to keep that going. I expect to move up to the 7,500+ board in the next couple of days and nothing will keep me away from my C2 until I do. However, once this season ends then improving my level will be much harder since the scores will be wiped clean. I will start on the 10,000+ board and have nowhere to go but down.
For the most part the ranking board celebrate the faster rowers, and rightly so, but we all need motivation. I know that I am as slow as a turtle, that my times will, at best, only ever be fair, but I do have the will to keep rowing even when I would rather be on the couch watching TV and eating potato chips. A Lifetime Honors Board would allow the slowpokes among us to garner some satisfaction from stubbornly plodding along.

Larry

I'v just been to the Annual Metres Honour Board and it states that it records the metres of all ranking rowers. Searching through the lists I can only find rowers who have achieved >1500 metres per day.

What about the rest, are they not included or am I missing them (myself included)?

Cheers

John
