There should be no switch..

Hm / fm difference is very ambitious. Should proberly be more like 5 seconds difference.

Did a 15k last week. Beat my time this week by about a second each split and added 500m. Glutes were crampin a bit but made it thru. I suppose i still have a ways to go. For someone 6'2 i use foot pedal setting on "2" is that normal?

Congratulations Mark, very well done. Good to be significantly under 7:00 Sounds like there is more to come when you want to test again.

Thanks. It's there for you too. I'm certain that it's mainly psychological once you're in the neighborhood of 7 mins.

yes ok...just doing a couple of faster 1km efforts today felt like a shock to the system TBH having not done any HIT. I probably can do it, as is, but would you need to train for the distance and get a block of training under my belt (lately v haphazard) to do myself reasonable justice. It's a good barrier to break though...

I should say that I aborted three previous attempts today -- all of them at around the 700m in point and all because I was being weak and not wanting to deal with discomfort. But I knew I'd hate myself if I didn't do it ( and probably couldn't show my face on here either!)

Maybe! I think you are more able to make progress aerobically than I am, which is evident in your workouts. But I am not giving up yet!

Genuinely, sitting at 7.02 as you are now, I'm not sure if it's even down to aerobics at this point. I really think it's just a case of hanging on grimly.

 I did that on my last test - the grim and bear it part. At a race though and I wasn't very confident going in. We shall see. Maybe the Pete Plan will work some magic this time. Anyway, this is your day and well done indeed! More to come for you we are all sure.

Confidence is a huge factor. I haven't been but today I felt more like attacking it, thereby controlling it more. It's a subtle psychological shift but it gave me enough. My target all along was to pull a sub 7 at the British Indoors in December. Now I'll be trying to go sub 6-50 there.
