@ Kirk - Kind of hard for anyone to critique you based on limited information. Like Dean mentioned, you could use some more power but that will come. It's all relative to improvement.
For those of you that haven't introduced yourself, having an idea of your experience and goals would help too for those of us that don't know you well.
PP is all about improvement for you, not competition, so no need to apologize for speed. It's all about just getting fit (staying safe and non injured) and getting better.

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd
Looks like all those who did the 8x500 today are prepared and showing some form. Good job pushing thru! No better way to get an intimate knowledge of one's limits than living with them for a couple more reps than are comfortable. That's about all that any of us can ask of ourselves on a routine basis. Bunch of good eggs! Please dial it back tomorrow on the steady state. <70% heart rate reserve or UT2 pace or 2k + 25" or whatever rule of thumb places a strict governor on effort and keeps your legs turning over on a rest day.

It does - especially in your case. I personally think the 2000 X 4 is worse (I've done both of them in the past two weeks). I can't stand the 4 X 2000 but necessary medicine.bisqeet wrote:Be quite honest. I'm dreading the 5x1500m

There's certainly a part of me that thinks the best thing about doing 5x1500 today is that it means I've got a whole week before I have to do 4x2000.mdpfirrman wrote:It does - especially in your case. Fearful symmetry! Not a hair (or stroke) out of place. No car air freshener for you, Glenn. If neither Mike nor Dean mess themselves, I've got it in the bag.Faster last . . .

You are testing faster times, which is honorable. I'm keeping myself busy during this self imposed conservative first cycle. Still working, mind you, but not yet near the danger zone. I'm hoping to hang around for a few cycles this time!
I am happy with the watts/rate on this one. Will try to get to 10 next time - even though it's a meaningless stat!

Nice work kicking off the endurance intervals, Glenn and Jack!
I hit my SS session this evening. 60 minutes at 18 spm and 1:59.1 per 500. Ended up at 15,100 meters in total. I noticed Dean also did his SS piece at 18 spm so I hope it's not a big deal to be slightly off the plan. Trying to do a SS piece at 22-25 spm seems like too many trips up and down the slide
On to 5 X 1,500...time to burn some fat off the soul...

Lads who can carry two bundles of shingles up the ladder in one trip don't require two. 60'r18 would be the end of me but the idea here is to give us tools rather than take them away. If you brought your own, use them.

R18 means I can still use some power on the stroke, but recover before the next.
Plus my SS coincide with OTW training - so best not to tax myself. Took a quad+ out for some sprints yesterday - 10k.
Have a few comps coming up for the oldies - a 12km and a 6km. need to put some training in for those.
SS can't be too heavy - so HM is the limit

Nicely judged, bet that hurt though judging by the hr, was the 24 rating deliberate for this? I thought the rate cap was only for the SS.G-dub wrote:Faster last...
Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd
Quite bold do go in so fast from the off, but it looks like you got away with it, I definetly prefer having something the tank for the last rep.jackarabit wrote:Wk 1: Endurance intervals

Pace target: 2K PB + 5 (2:09.4)? Maybe session PB from Nov. '15 (2:08.3)? Quien sabe?
....
Gassed in 4. #5 a managed fade to get the new average of 2:06.5.
