Hi everyone,

20,423 m over the past 3 weeks.
Today I did 7k, including a 2k at a comfortable 1:54 @ 22 spm and 70% of max HR.
Just feeling a slight tension in the back, so things are looking up!
I Will keep on biking and running until I have fully recovered.

Cheers!

Francois

P.S. Jim, could I also post my kilometers in the C2 logbook ? I would like them to count for the Cross Canada Row. Thanks

I am going very cautiously with my back and backing off at the first twinge of pain, numbness, etc. I find that just lowering my dps a little, seems to get rid of the most of the pain, but obviously compromises the speed. Oh well.

I will post 20,423 to the Cross Canada Row.

How many kliks do you want me to post in the C2 Jan Challenge log for you?

Jim

And then it automatically goes towards the January Challenge. I think you just need to mention them here so they also go towards the Cross Canada row.

Francois:
Krysta is right. You just have to post them here for the Cross Canada Row.

It looks like if I add them to the team log, they will also show up in your personal log. I did add 17383 to the team log. Let me know if they show up in your personal log also.

Jim
Welcome back Francois -- and i will echo others. Just be careful with that back. For me, watching my posture when rowing and then getting a really good stretch by hanging backwards on a large exercise ball really helps my situation.

Add 8k for me today.

Jill

Jill is dead on with the posture comment. Before I started working on mine and keeping my core stable during the row, I always seemed to be on the edge of hurting myself. Now it doesn't seem be as much of a problem (knock on wood .) I'm glad to see you back to Francois! .

10.5k today w/ 5X300@1:41pace 1000 rest intervals.

16.2 for me - Jan 15. Jusst watching the football games. Go Seahawks!

The Cross Canada boat has just gone through Gander, Newoundland The link is a tribute to all of the people there who helped out on 9/11.

Also, the Cross Canada boat is now over 7 million meters!. Great rowing everyone. We continue to move along at a fairly constant 1 million meters every 2 weeks. We should make it into St. John's this week and put this boat to rest.

We will then joins our friends in the TransAtlantic boat. They are flying. Their speed is about a 1 million kilometers a week.

I am worried about my algorithm in google earth, as my path across the Atlantic, looks like we will hit Scotland or Norway rather than Ireland. I'm glad I'm not on the ship trying to explain this to the captain and crew! Fortunately no one has to re-row any of their kliks

Keep on rowin',

Jim

Jan. 15 - 7K total

2x2K warmup at various intensities and stroke rates
2K @ 1:49.2, r25 = 7:16.8
1K cooldown

This is a new PB for me by 3.7 seconds. My last 2K attempt was 356 days (and about 1.1M meters) ago. My next, rather lofty, target is 7:10 by Feb 15.

I'll throw my support behind the importance of practicing proper posture. I think it was Alissa who gave a fairly concise description of rocking forward at the hips at the beginning of the recovery to ensure that the lower back is in a strong position at the catch. This has aided me, and my back, tremendously I believe; it also makes one realize the importance of hamstring flexibility.

Mark
