Way to go Mark! That was a great row. I tried to get a better 6,000 today, but it was a "no go." Oh well, time to get psyched up for the next challenge, eh. Thirty minutes at 20 SPM. I'm going to find that tough. I am not a tall, hugely muscular person, so I'll give it my best shot, but I hope my attempt doesn't look too pathetic compared with the rest of the women!

Hey our names rhyme - Canada Goose and Manitoba Moose!

Shannon aka Canada Goose

Great row there Mark, and it sounds like a great day. That's funny, I was thinking of making waffles for supper last night. There is a recipe that I want to try that calls for tofu. I figure if it's got some healthy ingrediants then you can pile on more of the whipped cream . Sort of balances out.

I think your suggestion on the two boats sounds great Jim!

I wanted to see what the 20 s/m thing was like so I rowed 5 X 500m at 20s/m at a 158.5 ~pace with 500m easy between. It's sure going to develop power. I've read somewhere around here that these kind of slow stroke rate rows can really decrease the times in the 2000. Makes sense that they would have this challenge the month before the crash-b's. I'm thinking of waiting a bit to try it (maybe next weekend.) I've done 3 races in a week, a bit much!

9k total today.

We're taking a day off from rowing today. Mark got me going when he mentioned going skiing. I've been doing some walking lately, but now it's time to get out the kick sleds. We bought two of them a few years back, a racing model and a regular old fashioned type. They are really fun, especially downhills. You can't quite carve a turn like with skis on. It's kind of a mixture of nudging the sled, dragging a foot and praying like H... when the trees get close. Great workout too. Here is a link to one site if you aren't familiar with them. A person I know who grew up in Norway said he used to use one of these to get to school.

http://www.esla.fi/eng/pkmain.htm

Today's a day off for me too. I wasn't planning to rest today, but we got a little carried away at our neighbour's New Year's party last night, finally climbing into the sack around 4:30. I suppose it could have been worse though, as we were the first to leave the party and the karaoke was just getting fired up!

Your link to the kick sleds has jogged my memory of a family trip to Sweden nearly thirty years ago John, thanks! The sleds, and Swedish chocolate, were highlights of the trip for me.

Enjoy your day!

Sounds like a night to remember Mark .

I ended up rowing after all. I went kick sledding with Shannon, then the kids and I thought I'd do a cool down rowing, ended up putting in 14k

We've got to get Krista to post her marathon time she did today. Wait till you here how fast she cruised, simply amazing!!!

We're doing pretty well with the January Challenge with only 10 peope rowing (at the time of this post). I'm looking forward to what kind of distance we do when everyone gets behind the oars . Happy New Year everyone!!

Fantastic Brian! You and Krista are setting the world on fire . Since Krista didn't brag here I'll do it for her (Since she's my sister in law ) She did a marathon in 3:06:55 yesterday!!! I'd imagine she's feeling it today!

I put in 20k today including 6X1000 @ 1:56pace, 20 s/m. A thousand's not too bad, 30 minutes will be interesting .

Time to turn the machine over to Zeb to get a couple more Ks for the challenge.
