Add 6k for me for today, please.

So, just how many Eh Team members have their own machines?? As we enter the next challenge, I will continue to regale you with where I am able to find machines as I travel. Some are pretty funny.

Jill

One model C we bought many years ago and didn't get used much until about a year ago and another erg (model C) a relative is letting us use for as long as we want. It's great having two machines. We have one in an isolated part of the house that I can use for morning rows and don't have to worry about waking anyone. The other machine is hooked up to the computer (with music and row pro.)

Whitehorse has lots of ergs available. Two gyms both have 2 each (model C) and we have a new Canada Games Centre built for the 2007 Canada winter games that has 4 model D's.

Dec 21st: 10Km (2:05/500m pace)

Holiday Challenge: 195,000m

I own a Model D, bought in December 2004. We used to live in London (UK) and didn't have room for one. Once we'd bought a house here with a basement the size of our UK house, I ordered a Model D.

Dec 21 -- 10k

I too am the proud owner of a Model D, and there are 2 more about 5 min walk away at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre.

Last January in Dalhousie N.B. I rowed on a Model A (??) -- are there any that old? -- or at least it seemed like that. Wooden foot boards that someone had made (no straps), chrome cage around the fan, etc. I think they are trying to simulate fishing boats or dories ...

D'Arcy

Winter Solstice 11.5 k H.C.103,000

8x500's @ 1:55 plus everything else it took to make sure I passed the 100,000 m mark.
A question or 3 for you seasoned ergers, and travellers (Gypsy Jill). At the local (Peterborough) YMCA the drag factor on the 2 machines (model C, PM2) range from 57@setting 1 to 75@setting 10. Are all machines calibrated the same? Does this mean that the fan cages have accumulated their maximum capacity of dust from lack of TLC? If they were to be cleaned would it be like finding that your bicycle has a big chain ring?
Thanks,
Kirk

11k for me - dec 21

We have a concept2 model D at home.

I never did try trigger point therapy for my back, but the physio used interferential, ultrsound and TENS. They all felt great but did nothing for the weak, numb leg. Mother nature and tincture of time seems to have done most of the trick.

jim

They need to have the fans cleaned. The drag should range from ~90 to ~200 on a clean machine.

http://www.concept2.com/05/rower/servic ... asp
http://www.concept2.com/05/rower/servic ... ean.pdf

6,500 for me today. And I think those of us who have to get to a gym to do our workouts should get some mulitplier factor.....!

As for the drag factors across machines - very different between models and care level for sure. The one I used in Ottawa (much like the one D'Arcy talked about - wooden footboards, etc) had no way of changing drag and when i checked it was at 220 or some absurd number. No wonder i got tuckered out.

Gypsy Jill
