And, while I was having a laugh looking at some videos, I saw several apparently pushing the idea that buffalo is a favorite prey for bands of Bigfoot. So I guess someone's going to have to organize 'Bigfoot Day' on the Buffalo Trail. :)
And that's what makes fencing so necessary....egad. You should see folks out snapping photos of moose...it can get ugly quick. And as to smelling nature...yep. Standing next to the herd is like the smells of tour de farm...

Well my leaving foot prints won't work. I have small feet. You know what they say about guys with small feet right? Small shoes.

Image Get ready......

It's a double whammy for the August Challenges....and what better way to get ready for the Fall Team Challenge and then that most popular event of all...the Holiday Challenge? I know. It's THAT far away and yet so close. Heh heh heh.

Image Your hours on the erg earn a virtual medal ...and in a call to national pride, Concept2 will be counting up the medals earned by participants in each country...who will have the most GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE?!

Golden, Colorado is home to a somewhat famous brewery...and to many other fine organizations. One of those is the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies. Golden also has a fun celebration called Buffalo Bill Days, and that includes a parade...a parade that the Golden Retriever Rescue participates in. Yesterday was a fine day for many, MANY furry Goldens and their owners. These retrievers naturally want to visit all their admirers along the parade route...makes for slow going!

Whooooosh! That's the sound of you and your erg flying through yet another month...and straight into another Challenge!

Image Hooyah for Dog Days!

Sure. It starts with smaller goals...the first week is for just 10,000 non-cumulative meters....even newbies can crank out those kinds of numbers. Each week, the demands grow larger! And then you're suddenly in better shape on the erg than you were the previous month...I'm telling you - it's good stuff!

Rode the Peak to Plains trail yesterday - and it was all that it was purported to be..and more! It would be easy to miss the turn off from our US 6 into the trailhead at Mayhem Gulch. But there it was. The trail runs along Clear Creek...saw rafters, climbers, fishermen, walkers, dogs, kids on scooters...very multiuse. Three bridges, each with stepouts, take you along the creekside. It.was.awesome!

Okay - enough about biking trails...but they are so COOL ! In my time as a nomad, I have come to believe that there are hidden gems to be found no matter where you live...you just have to get out there and find them!
I missed a couple of days of erging also this weekend. I finally convinced somebody to go on a longer ride with me, with a night of camping out. There is a great rail trail near me that you can take from Cincinnati to at least Xenia or Springfield. So did about 100 km Sunday and Monday with a fully loaded bike.
