"Congrats on the new PB John, but that .2 has gotta hurt . Couldn't you have done just one more stroke a little harder?"[QUOTE]

I wish I could have snuck in an extra stroke Jim. But I went out a bit on the fast side (under a 1:40 pace for the first 500.) The pace started to slow and towards the end I was fighting with all I had (wasn't quite enough ) I ended up laying on the floor for several minutes, but at least I kept my breakfast down .

Welcome Darcy and Kirk

15k for me today - Dec 11.

I have somehow managed to sneak up to 141,844 meters on the HC. Not bad for a guy who can't stand for more than 60 seconds yet.

Welcome Tamara and Barry Gilhuly from Waterloo, Ontario to the Eh!Team. Could someone please make sure of the newcomers are up to speed on posting their kilometers to the forum so I can keep track of our progress.

I will update the website later today and check out how long a route through europe, africa, middle east, australia and back would be.

Keep on rowin', hosers.

Jim

Well, we are through the heart of the Ottawa valley now, eh? I can just see the folks from "What's Bred in the Bone" standing back and making no comment as our boat slides past.

This beautiful brick building is the museum in Arnprior. Wave at our team member, Lori Mackay in Almonte, she is just to the south of us.

Rough guess for:
St. John's
Ireland
London
Paris
Rome
Africa
Israel
Middle East
India
Singapore
Australia
Sydney
Auckland
French Polynesia
Peru
Cuba
Vermont

about 41, 285 kilometers!

It will probably be like up to 50,000 kliks by the time we arrive back at Concept2 depending on route variations, eh. Is the Eh!Team up for it?

That's a lot of rowin' hosers.

JIm

I used Mike Caviston's recommendations regarding warm up and pacing, and ended up with a time of 6:55.7. A PB by default since I it was the first time I did it.
John, I think that with a more conservative pacing you will easily go under 7:00 next time.

Cheers,

Francois

December 12th - 20K - 1:13:08 -1:49.5 splits.

I taught Grade 8 for six months in Fitzroy Harbour, so we're rowing down the same stretch that was my commute for a while.

Cheers,

Brian

Hey,
I didn't research your group beforehand so I didn't know you were rowing across the Great White North. I just saw "eh" in the title and figure why not.
I guess since I joined Friday that Friday's row counts.

7.162 km. A 5k p.b. + warm up & cool down

Cheers,
Kirk

Francois, where did you find the post from Mike Caviston on pacing for the 2k. I have an idea on how I would like to do it next time, but if the plan worked for you then I would also like to give it a shot. Thanks, John.

Thanks, John.

John,

There are two posts by Mike on pacing: post 1 and post 2.

Essentially, if your goal pace is 1:44.8 for instance (to break 7 min ) , you would proceed as follows:
divide the 2000m into five 400m segments.
you would do the 1st 400 at 1:46, the 2nd 400m at 1:46, the 3rd at 1:45, the 4th at 1:44 and the last at 1:43.

Next to proper pacing, Mike stresses that proper warm up is crucial. You can find Mike's post on the subject here.

Regards,

Francois
