Yes an M on each piece as they say of tabby cats but mine is now a little m. Broke thru to 163+ yesterday so maybe it will stick and not rebound too much. I don't miss the beer and sody pop, maybe the beer a little. Cutting the intake of "liquid calories" seems to be the key to wgt loss in my case.

Mission accomplished - all 3 @1:53.x which is probably about current 5k+2 so that seems about right for me as it was pretty hard perhaps 8/10.lindsayh wrote:I hope to have a go in the morning so will see!
Could be tempted to leave it at that but will see. Would have to go to 1:52 to start and see if I can hold it there - plenty of time to rest on the laurels.

Re: Forum Flyers
Had a go at the July CTC today - didn't quite hit my target of 1:57.0.
Was pretty tough - very high perceived effort, but I definitely drank more than was strictly necessary last night so do hope travel plans don't prevent me having another go - really would like to see if I can do a bit better than this.

Re: Forum Flyers
Had another go here - counted the first interval and my 10:57.1 was 5.9" better than Sunday. Better prep today (no drinks last night!) made a HUGE difference - I would probably only rate this about a 7.5/10 on the effort scale.
Off on hols for 2 weeks tomorrow so may not get another crack at this - and really not too concerned if I could have gone faster here - actually stokes to hit my target for this and feel so good afterwards!

Both tight groups, Rohan. Looks like stroke rate made the difference.

Re: Forum Flyers
Thanks Jack. I did have the DF a tad lower than normal at ~115 for this, and particularly for the second interval seemed to hit a groove just under 30spm that was really working for me - lots of consecutive strokes at either 1:56 or 1:57 and felt great.jackarabit wrote:Both tight groups, Rohan. Thanks Henry. A few other comments I've seen and the number of entries so far (which seems low to me) makes me think you're not alone in your hesitation and I'd guess there'll be a few regulars who give it a miss this month, which is fair enough. (Though obviously your position on the all time Forum Flyers list does show you're not one to just cherry pick the challenges which appeal to you!)hjs wrote:Well done Rohan, not been in the mood myself to try this one.

Re: Forum Flyers
I am currently cogitating over my old Pete plan results and personal bests, consulting spirit guide, rubbing my foot, and hoping to choose a target which will exploit my considerable debilities to least effect and allow me to rest content with exactly one (complete) result.

Re: Forum Flyers
July CTC. Too much cogitation too little memorization! Inverted a couple numbers and made 2813m into 2831. I didn't manage the target center well so 18 meters doesn't matter much.

Re: Forum Flyers
Tried The ctc, cape 24 125 drag. Overly optimistic, thought 146 would be possible, not so.
1500 wu 155 ish
Ctc 3x2813 rest 4, slowest reps is the c2ctc result.
1 9.53 145.4/24
2 10.02.7 147.1/24 oh ohh
3 10.06.7 147.8/25 had to pull 25/26 to get below 1.48
Cd 2k 2.14
Training is starting to show, lack of fitness due to my lack of volume. But you can,t have it all. What mostly is showing is lack of resilience, when Getting tired, its almost over right away, recovery is pretty weak.
Don,t know if I try a free rate one. It sure needs to be cooler. Erging in the summer is not much fun really.

new member in Prague recruited by my buddy Martin (another Martin)
First Martin used to live in Sydney but now back in Prague and "found" him at the gym.
Nice strong 1:49 for the CTC (30+hwt)

Clearly summertime, very little action to see from us in the ctc, other teams not much difference.hjs wrote:Tried The ctc, cape 24 125 drag. Overly optimistic, thought 146 would be possible, not so.

Took my one serious attempt, still 1.44 in mind, although I knew that would be a very slim chance. Humid, 22/23c, bit of breeze, and sore back a bit.
1500 wu 1.50 ish, slow 500 paddle.
Ctc on the pm, 2813 reps, free rate this time, 125 drag, strapped in. 4 min rest.
Rep 1 144.1 9:45.9
Rep 2 144.6 9:48.9
Rep 3 144.9 9:50.6 this was a max effort, had to pull it back from 145.9, with a last 100 in the low 1.30 ies.
Given my current training and fitness proberly close to what I currently have. So must be pleased. Although this is not overly great, compared to my wintertimes.

Re: Forum Flyers
yes henry - still pretty strong and high in the rankings - well done.
Much lower numbers this month as you say - probably the same in August I guess though it will be "easier" to do

. . . depending how much un-weight you have to throw around. Too bad a HM can't be done in an hour by a small child or the average sprinter (or me for that matter).guess though it [August] will be "easier" to do
