The cold start which I have been using for >2k distance pieces appears to me to aid the effort but may also have forced a restful pace plateau from 12-18'? At least I'm not strong enuf to hurt myself! Little blessings.

Re: Forum Flyers
managed to "trick" Terry Wombat63 into doing the ctc this morning at my gym - nice 1:50.0 for him and 1:55.1 for me which was Ok - good to do it together.
now there are 2 boats waiting for ladies - not sure I can get my Liz to do it - just too far for her.

Re: Forum Flyers
Lindsay, I think I gamed the CTC system without intending to. I entered my second ctc effort this month under my usual hwt designation. Then tipped scale at 164.8 lbs. couple days after and decided to get a lwt. sign in on the ctc. I knew the rules permitted an entry in either weight class but only one entry per month. I thought I could register as both light and heavy and be all set to choose the one that applied in future. Not the case as the program reclassified me lwt. for the hwt effort already entered. I feel no sense of obligation to the horde of "heavies" who shove me unceremoniously from one boat to the next each month but in fairness to the lwt whom I pushed into the next boat, I will correct my entry.

Re: Forum Flyers
Jack there are some people who have 2 personae - lwt and hwt as separate entries and choose the one appropriate for their weight at the time but you are right only one per month. I am sure it doesn't matter in single cases like this as you say.

Re: Forum Flyers
Lindsay, I'm guessing one has to alter something in addition to wgt class in the registration ID to have two IDs ready to hand. Jack Be Thin and Jack Be Thick maybe? That's how Bob S. dealt with the problem if I recall: PhatBob and SkinnyBob.

July challenge is:
3x 2813 on 4 rest.
Slowest rep counts, so pacing needs to be spot on.
a full boat rows a FM in meters

Good correlation to 3x2500 on 5' rest or not?

I felt bad about being stranded on the float two months out of three. Now see way out. Hire out to Fitness Matters as a lightwgt. Could we trade for women?

Re: Forum Flyers
Welcome to the 'm' club Jack - I'll start looking out for your name in the right hand column of the team section on the site!
Any thoughts on how this month's challenge should compare to 5k PB (as that seems the best reference point I have personally), maybe 5k +1 or +2 - in that sort of range? My 5k PB is currently at 1:55.7 so thought I might have a first crack trying to get all three intervals at under 1:57.0?
Would really like to have a couple of goes at this one, but will be travelling for most of July so am not sure what my erging (or general exercise) options are going to look like and may only get the one effort in.

Re: Forum Flyers
That seems about right Rohan - my 5km is 1:50 tho maybe a bit off that at the moment and I was thinking about trying to get close to that. The trick is not to go to hard to start and blow out the last - my tactic is to set a good time for the first and then use that as the line in the sand to stay ahead of it for the next two - very boring though! Will need a couple of goes to get it 100% I suspect. I hope to have a go in the morning so will see!Bloodbuzz Corio wrote:Any thoughts on how this month's challenge should compare to 5k PB (as that seems the best reference point I have personally), maybe 5k +1 or +2 - in that sort of range?
