I'm no athlete, I'm 47, I'm 5' 7" and 75kg, I started rowing in May '05, and I expect to be under 7:00 by the end of one year ... or maybe two.<br /><br />If not below 7:00, you're likely a fitness rower, and I could understand how you might question anyone's time that's as fast as Dwayne's is. It's the difference between a guy who golfs once a year and a professional. I don't know Dwayne. I don't know if his times are real or not. I choose to believe that people are honest until I know otherwise. <br /><br />I am not standing up for Dwayne. I am standing up for civil discourse and decency. The fact that people responded to you the way they did is unfortunate even though it is understandable.<br /><br />The sad thing about all of this is that many people on the forum agree with you that it would be nice to improve how times are recorded. This whole thread, which you claim you started to try to initiate some sort of improvement in record keeping detracts from that goal. I told someone in a private message that I thought it was a shame that your passion was so misdirected. You could be a very powerful force for change. Instead you are merely something that has been deposited on the forum. We will all wipe our shoes and go on with this as merely a foul memory.<br /><br />I sincerely wish you success if you really want to work toward improving how indoor rowing times are recorded and ranked. If that is not really your goal, then I hope that you will be able to address whatever inner turmoil is causing you so much pain and eventually find peace within.<br /><br />And now I really will leave this thread. I'm going on vacation for a bit more than a week. No computers. No phone. Just me and my wife, some old friends, some new friends, cold weather, campfires, snow, dogs and sleds.

I would expect something like this from a high school student. A man your age really ought to know better than to walk into a stranger's house and piss on the living room carpet without even saying hello.<br /><br />Even when we have disagreements here (and I've been involved in a number), they are handled with some degree of decorum and courtesy. Try it, it works pretty well.
