Carla - Simply great

I've missed two days and I'm itching to get back in the seat so I'll try another later today

Well done Carla. Great to get a new PB. As Wilko says you can probably do sub 40, but you must be rested and remain focussed trhroughout the entire session. These challanges are relentless, you feel like dieing and yet we continue to push for more. Well done again.

I managed 36.34.3. Secs. 10 seconds behind Paul B. So feeling good about that as we were fairly close in December challenge. I didn't get the splits but I think I was fairly constant at around 1.50. throughout. I had the display on projected time and initially wanted to get under 37.00 but it was showing around 36.45 for most of the time.

The knee caused me no problems at all and I think I can count my self very lucky that there appears to be no long term damage. I have done a lot of training this week and the strength in that leg appears to be coming back nicely. I even managed a couple of short runs on the treadmill last week.

Phil - Great 10k - top stuff.

In percentage terms, how is your fitness level today compared to before the knee injury?

Carla

Well done to you too. You have to be a cert for going sub 40 before the end of the month.

You are just making a super comeback after the injury, Phil! Fantastic recovery and that's a really great 10K time. 1:50 Whew.

Do you usually use projected time? I've never used that one. I can't gauge what I'm doing with that one--always use average pace, because that tells me how much harder I have to push as the meters roll by.

Are you going to do the CTC this month, Owen, or will it mess up your training plan? I would think you'd end up in Taff 1? Give it a go if it's OK with your coach!

Not really sure, looking back at Nov, Dec pieces and I reckon I must be around 90 %. I did a 40Min piece in Mid December at a pace of 1.49.6 which I was pleased with at the time.

Beat my target for this shot by 5 seconds--PB by 22 seconds!!

(on slides)

It felt pretty awful at the end and I have to say I might have quit but I had my Taff T shirt on--and that would have been inexcusable.

My husband and daughter scared the crap out of me. When I finished I had my eyes shut and was just sort of sliding up and down, heaving, and when I opened them they were standing there suddenly and made me jump off the seat and yelp. They got a pretty good laugh out of it!

Well done Carla. The 10k is an difficult distance which is more of a mental challenge than physical......If you decide to do it again try going out sub 2.00/500 for the first 5k and then see if you can hang in there. I bet you can do it!!

No, I rarely use projected time but since I didn't know what I was capable of but was determined to go under 37Mins, I thought this was the best way to go.
Now I have a target and know how I felt at the end I will probably use average pace for future peices.

FYI - We're one person shy of filling out our #3 boat. Who hasn't put in a 10k yet?

If we get the third boat, it will help us in the overall team points.

I will definatley do a 10k this month, though i very much doubt i will get into Taff1 now that Phil and Paul are back, even if one is fat and the other crippled  just kidding, both you guys have allready posted great times. Have never done a 10k before   Also have a 2k test (at last) on the horizon so would love to get as close as i can to 6:20, maybe quicker? :D

Fantastic rowing Carla and Phil. I go away to a conference in Swansea for the weekend and come home to find every one has been blasting targets again (and I promise I wasn't up late drinking Mike!) Carla I am sure you can do it :!:
I will try again this week. I am sure I CAN get below 43 now.

Owen it would be great if you could put in a time as that would then make three full taff teams and us taff 3s would have more to aim at.
keep up the great work Taffs :D :D

Fatty? moi.....Charming

Anyone else want to stick the knife in this weekend

Owen - As you've made it onto WCS, don't you think you really ought to try and get in boat 1, because it can't be good for your cred if you are kept out by fatty and cripple, who are also both old enough to be your father

Cheers

Fatty

PS - when are you going to post a picture of yourself? come on don't be shy
