Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Thanks for the welcome Richard! For some reason, 25k / day seems a lot easier than 750k / month. I've been feeling pretty good in the 18-20k / day range for the last few weeks, so i've been trying to increase that a bit with the fresh season. I think i'm going to have to find a way to make more seat time, take fewer rest days, or learn to row faster!Drivetofast wrote:Welcome Derric 750,000 a Month will keep you on front Page Just stay close to Ed. Sorry all - I could not get to the postings today. I will try again tomorrow.

And, of course, the list of entrants has changed since naming rights were published. That's the way horse racing is - sometimes you get a horse to ride, and sometimes you don't! Had to look up "the draw" reference just to make sure I understood it. Each horse gets a number, and then the post position order is drawn randomly. Thanks Richard for putting the posting order out there. Nyquist and Mor Spirit didn't get such great numbers! But then, American Pharaoh didn't get such a great gate spot either last year and look what happened there!

Hopefully I got most of this right. It is difficult to get blocks of time where there are fewer distractions.
LIfe with Goldens - or why the postings are more erratic than usual:
Every puppy I get is different (except for they are all Goldens). The newest one, Aerie, is a screamer when placed in her crate. I've not been blessed with this before, and when the other two dogs look at me as if to say "make it stop," I am in full agreement with them. Fortunately, I keep a good supply of earplugs. Patience? Sometimes it wanes. But we are making progress little by little. She cannot quite make it through the night without a break. I am learning to tell which panic screams are "I gotta go" vs "let me be free!"
I couldn't quite get the linear line up requested. You gotta take the photos where you can. Floor mopping is a daily event, but that is getting better, too.
Toys in various states of shred. Almost all rugs picked up for the duration as these become magic carpets for all different kinds of reasons.

K2 since you picked the Oaks winner. Can you give us a hint who is going to win the Derby? I know you have picked Derby winners in the past. Orb etc

The Horse Challenge: What It's All About...spieg wrote:I dont know what all this horse stuff is about, but if I qualify for one, sign me up!
Well...it's evolving, and new this year. Richard T and danwho trotted out the idea that we needed something that was related to the Derby or the Triple Crown since several teammates (including moi) were interested in horse racing. Like many things here in the Lunaverse, we just made it up for a new twist on keeping us motivated to add to our meter piggybanks. I should have noticed that you were horseless. At this point before the Derby (horses are probably getting their last minute hair dos and stuff - Richard would know), I think you'll have to have a share in a horse...in other words, be part of a syndicate. Derric, you'll have a share in the horse Exaggerator.
As to my picks for the Derby winner(s): Creator, Nyquist, Shagaf...but Mor Spirit is going to give it a go. Like others on this team, I like to actually see the horses and get a look at their eyes before the race. Since that's not possible, we'll have to all watch virtually and see if we can get a sense of which horse and jockey want this one more.
Make sure you're tuned in NBC Sports Network: pre race stuff starts Noon - 4 pm ET, the actual race is at 6:34 pm ET
And now, back to our regularly scheduled program:Kona2 wrote:
. This Horse Race Challenge is sort of fuzzy in its outline, but this time it consists of:
Horse Race Challenge
1. Row or ski-erg 10K or more in a day to get your horse (ideally by 5 PM ET today, but will accept the horses up until the day before the Kentucky Derby)
2. Row or ski-erg 10K or more in a single day during the week of the Kentucky Derby (May 1 - May 7)
3. Row or ski-erg 9500 m or more in a single day during the week of the Preakness (May 14 - May 21)
4. Row or ski-erg 12,000 m or more in a single day during the week of the Belmont Stakes (June 1 - June 7)
5. Hope your horse is the lucky winner of one or more of these races - for lucky Bragging Rights
Back at the horse farm, we have a couple of new entries - including one from James STEED (now if there was ever a perfect name to suggest that you should participate in the Horse Race Challenge!)...
Horses New To The Paddock:
James S - Cherry Wine
Mikkel - Sunny Ridge
AJ - Zappareni
Angelo - Riker
We'll learn from how this all goes about what to do differently - just like in the rest of our lives. There's been a lot of interest in the thundering hooves down the raceway for several years now, and it would be good to have a Challenge that let's us participate in that fun. Input is always good. I'd rather not scratch the horse from the series or the series from the horses just yet. It may be a total flub, or it may work..perhaps next year we could run it like the Holiday Challenge where you have to erg a certain number of meters to get your horse name, then more meters to enter the Kentucky Derby, more meters to enter the Preakness, and more meters to enter the Belmont...all as you vie to become a Triple Crown erger. This would help those interested in trying for the Marathon Challenge. I am interested in whether this would appeal.
MILESTONES...Bragging RIghts...Celebration:
150 K Ed
50 K Angelo - welcome back!
50 K Ron
50 K Stuart

I feel that Exaggerator is going to be tough. He is a come from behind horse It depends on pace If pace is to fast he has a real good chance
Derric there are no more horses You have one of the best Jockey is good has won derby before
