I have my sights set on 3M meters for the season... it was a no brainer until I took vacation and got the flu in February... coupled with lifting and still being a little exhausted I started to wonder if I would make it. I am taking a few weeks off of weights so I can row like hell for a while and then get back to the weights after that!

There is light at the end of the tunnel!!!

I finally cleared enough space in my new flat to start rowing again...and saw that it's been about 3 weeks since I last rowed. Wow! How time flies. Having had such a break though, I had a chance to remember how hard rowing actually is . And I got a blister for the first time in forever: time to buy a new pair of gloves (they ripped during the move, and duct tape isn't really the answer for the long term).

Again, I'm sorry about not being able to post daily now. Work continues on my house and then I'm going to sell it. So I think that the delays will continue. I was hoping to at least finish out this season but if there is anyone who would like to publish daily reports, then by all means, you can start right away. If you are fine with how things are, then I'll keep track as best I can.

Welcome back to our Hummingbird!
Heather, which model do you have? Also, what kind of gloves do you use? I have so many blisters.

Hi Angela:

Sorry to come and go like that; I was being overambitious trying to row at that point. Still, I got at least another 15 K in before the end of the challenge (though I only entered them today; hope I wasn't too late).

Gloves: I use the NewGrip gloves, which are fantastic: no blisters, ever...at least until they rip and/or you have pre-existing blisters from hefting heavy cartons etc . Honestly, they are great. Lisa told us all about them years ago and I have been ordering them ever since. Mine have lasted about 2 years each on average, but they are expensive (especially with the exchange rate for Canadians) so I'm thinking of ordering my next set during one of their promos (buy two, get one free for example).

As for what model I have...I've just checked the website which tells me it's a Model D...BUT I've had it since 1998 when it would have been the current model which does not include an ergonomic handle nor a fancy monitor (just the basic). I've occasionally thought of ordering a new handle and monitor, but it ain't broke so I've got no driving urge to improve it (especially now, what with needing a new pair of gloves and having had horrendous moving expenses!) My little hummingbird is chirping "cheap cheap" instead of "cheep cheep" these days.

Oh, I forgot: when I logged on today I saw that I reached 5M meters this season: the best ever. I kind of had it in mind as a very private goal and it's nice to see I actually made it. Hopefully I can do the same next season as it really is the best cardio workout I can do.
