Great rowin', hosers.

I manage to squeak in a PB for my 30 minutes on the weekend. I broke my old mark by over 150 meters, so I am pretty happy with that.

Our around the world row is progressing. We are almost 80% of the way across Africa now. Remember to record your meters in your C2 logbook, so they will show up on the 'round the world row.

I should have to some time to make some improvements to the website over the next few weeks, as long as I can keep the office at bay

Keep on rowin', eh.

Congratulations Jim! That was a quantum leap improvement!
Are you planning on doing the 10k this month?

Thanks a lot for maintaining and improving the web site!

Cheers!

Yup, I am definitely planning on putting in a 10k for the http://www.c2ctc.com/. Some of those times posted there are incredible. My goal will be to go sub 40, which will be a PB for me, but not all that fast compared to the rest of the crew.

Keep on rowin', eh.

Great job on your PB Jim :) ! And best wishes to anyone contemplating doing the 10k for the CTC. I was planning on doing it on Saturday, but caught some kind of flu bug Friday night. I'm still out for the count now. Hopefully this will end soon and I can log some metres for the Round the World row and try the 10k. Time to go back to bed :( . Take care. John.

Feel better, John.

Congratualations on your time, Jim. I guess I will try a 10K this month too. I'm sure I won't come close to your time, Jim, but whatever time I do will be a PB since I haven't done a 10K yet. My usual row now is 2x22min. I like to stretch a little between segments, and I like to hydrate. So a 10K will be a change for me. But then, so far, all the CTC challenges have been a change for me.

My sub-40 10k is only in my dreams yet.

Looks like I will be having to translate this into reality now.

Wish me luck!

Keep on rowin', eh.

Conratulations Jim!
150 meters is a BIG jump.

Looking forward to seeing you crack the 40 minute barrier.

It'll be interesting to see how many goals are reached. I'm shooting for 41 min first. (That will take 21.2 sec :? )

Cheers all,

Kirk

My first row in a week today (any kind of exercise!) Man, this flu is a nasty one. It's hit our town hard, more then half of the people that I know have or have had it. Many people have had it up into pneumonia. They even quarantined one of the senior residences because of it. But luckily I'm about done with it (fingers crossed :) .)

Besides the CTC 10k, is anyone looking at doing the Marathon Challenge (1/2 or full marathon) ? I'm considering it, but I'll have to see how much this bug has set me back. Take care and wash those hands :P .

Nice to have you back, John. I hope you stay feeling better.

We are almost into Egypt. This has been a long slog across Africa, but we are about 20% of the way around the world.

Welcome D. Tambeau, from Ontario, to the Eh!Team. Their kilometers will start showing up the next time they log their miles in the C2 log book.

And wow, that's a great time by Brian on the CTC challenge. I should be able to hold down the back of the boat. Nice row, Brian.

Keep on rowin', eh.

I see Brian T has gone 34 sec better than his first attempt. Whooh
Well done Brian!

It's going to be somewhat of a letdown to see the avg. pace of the boat after I join  , but I will anyway.

John: What stroke rate is recommended for a HM? I was thinking of giving it a go... although I've yet to even try the hour.

Cheers all,

Kirk[/i]

Hi Kirk, To tell you the truth, I'm not sure what the "pros" would recommend for s/r in a half marathon. When I did my previous 1/2 marathon my stroke rate was over 30 for most of the way. Francois very kindly pointed out that I might do better if I decreased my s/r. So on the one I did last month I kept it to between 24 -29 until a sprint at the end where it was over 30. Most of the way it was probably 25-27. Good luck if you try one! I like the distance. You can go pretty hard at it and not have to worry too much about dying, like in a full marathon. I didn't eat anything during it (I was breathing pretty hard so I probably couldn't have), but I did take three drinks. I went with the camalback on the wall next to me so that I could keep rowing while the tube was in my mouth.

Great rowin', hosers. We have made it into Egypt.

I managed to knock over a minute off my previous 10k and yup, I went sub 40, so I am  :D HAPPY  :D with that. It didn't feel bad at all, and I think I can go faster still, so I will try again by the end of the month.

I would not have been able to do it without all of the support of the Eh!Team, so....

Keep on rowin', eh.

Jim, well done on the 10K. I saw the sub 40 on the CTC site.

John (and Francios), thanks for the info on s/r. I'll try a 60 min go at the HM pace and see how that goes.

Cheers,

Kirk

Congratulations Jim! This is quite an improvement!

I will try to fit a 10k time trial near the end of the month.
This morning I did 3 PBs at a local swim meet, so I am  :D HAPPY  :D too!

Cheers!
