Yes indeed, 6+' down in 3 months and 50" down in less than 30 days 36" is a gigantic improvement. I have to ask if low rate (or at least lower than 30 rate) day to day training contributed to that improvement? Will you be doing future training at 18-20spm? The faculty of The Little School of Rate Suppression needs to know!
I will have to try doing more slow spms i havent done any lower than say 29 spms. I am 1x a day 10km rows on weekdays and al of those are under 37 minutes spm is about 30-31. Weekends i bump it up to 2x 10km a day but around 37.30.
I am pretty much doing volume and trying to find my maximum physical ability. as for Technical improvements i am sure i have LOADS to learn and improve upon.
Keys to success i have found that breathing techniques can do wonders for times, for example if i blow air about 2x of intakes per stroke and this is simply trial and error it really does wonders if you just do big blowing breathing i find that to really boost my overall performance but it is also very taxing on the abs and you do get very dry in the mouth.
Another thing is really i do perform so much better on an empty stomach meaning no food for minimum 3-4 hours this really comes into play when you do big heavy blowing breathing if you have any sort of food in your stomach it will be unbearable.
As for boosts id say 2 cups of strong black coffee about 1 h before really does wonders for overall will.
And id have to say you have to be a bit mentally retarded to really push yourself in rowing meaning you really have some sort of likeness for pain.
