That is very nice - strong work and clearly room for improvement.

Congrats, nice effort and progression.

Here is my - more modest - 30 min TT effort 3 or 4 days ago. I've been erging continuously almost 3 years now (mostly 0-30 kms /week, increased that to 20-50 km/wk from the February this year) as a "warm-up" and "cooldown" before and after my pseudohypertrophic weight training (which usually takes between 80-120 minutes). I train 3-5 days/wk and rest 2-4 days/wk. Haven´t developed virtually any strength or muscle after first 6 months.

This particul 30 min TT was done as a standalone (not after 120 min strenious weight training, LOL). My plan was to pace at 1:56/500 (Target was nice 7777 meters) at SPM 27-28 (based on W/stroke on my previous erg sessions) for the first 6200 meters and then speed up pace to 1:54,5 and SPM to 28-29 for the last meters between 6200-7777 if I am capable of. This was only my my 4th hard session on erg during these 3 years (about 99% of my erging is at steady pace 2:05-2:10, SPM 20 (just recently have managed to drop spm from earlier 22-23 to r20), mostly 10K's but also some 60min sessions (appr. 14K/60min) and only one session over an hour (2 hours / 27+k). I have done 2 earlier "unofficial" 10K TTs (39:43 (spring 2014?), 38:50 (autumn 2015), but these were "Just Row"'s with high DF (180-190) and back then I did't even know how to set PM3 correctly for TTs. :D This 30min was done with DF130. Struggled from the start to finish to get SPM up and really could't produce any decent kick at the end but somehow managed to get 100m more than what my planned target was :D

After 20 minutes I was rather confident that I can reach my target (7777m), but at the same time this session was a good reminder why I do TTs very sparingly.

the urban rowing gym in Brisbane is working hard to create some racing opportunities this year including the "Australian Distance Indoor Rowing Champs" yesterday.
So I flew for 90 minutes each way for an afternoon of the erg doing stuff I am not very good at - crazy.
Account in the competition thread
I did this all for jack Gilmore (and the Nonathlon!)

PB but pretty soft really - my weakest event I suspect.

so 2km w/u
60' @1:57.1 = 15360m = new PB
sr28 df 122

1:57.4
1:57.4
1:57.3
1:57.1
1:57.3
1:56.2

then 30'r
then 5km @1:59.8 ('warm down"!)

Quite pleased really - the 60' felt good with not a hint of slowing and nailed it! I always wonder how much I left behind worrying about finishing.

Great time Lindsay!

First time doing a hard 100m today (17.0 - 1:25). So PB I suppose. 75th percentile for my age group (surprisingly). That's about where all my times across the board are roughly so I guess I consistently could stand improvement all around (at least up to 10000m).

As a beginner, I guess everything is a PR at the moment, but today I started week 9 of the beginner Pete plan and rowed 9000m at 20spm, average pace 2:04.2 - which was 2 secs faster than my previous row (8000m) for no obvious reason other than trying a new breathing pattern out - exhale before the catch - think it gave me a slightly longer stroke (closer to chain guard)

Nice ones, Lindsay, Mike and Luke.

Tonight, I took off 5 secs of my 5K PB, down to 20'19.1. Kept the first 2km on the 20 minutes mark, then needed to slow down but aimed to maintain around the 20'30 for the next 2km and all out again on the last km. Crawled over the line. 1k w/u and a 5k UT2/c-d in 22'50 either side.

I'll get to that 20min mark. one increment at a time.

LIndsay, you went to considerable trouble to participate in this comp I'm thinking! Next time you'll have to row from Sydney to Brisbane!

Some head-butting over speciALities on the board recently as we play the mirror, mirror on the wall game that finds world-class sprinters lacking our elegance of execution and lunatic meter chasers lacking our refined judgment of the threshold of minimally-acceptable speed and power. Your hour in Brisbane made me think of the CAT IVs and kittens who used to munch their powerbars at the popstop and talk about how Cipollini couldn't climb. I saw the man ride the 2000 Giro. He didn't get past stage 8 in the Apennines but yeh, he could climb. Thanks for making the effort. The other guy's shoes are never comfortable.

Papy, not enuf days in the week for your improvement!

havent done a 500m time trial since i started rowing on Jan 6th. time then was 1.53.7 i should have done a 100M avg so it printed better but I could not best 1.40 split time the whole row which is disappointing since I'm most likely maxed on power which means I have a LONG way to go. But none the less its PB. at age 31 not so impressive but a start.

Edit: i fixed the year on my erg today btw
