Re: Forum Flyers
Fiona, that's the one and welcome to FF. The 2016 C2 logbook and ranking year ends April 30 and the 2017 season (which will also be referred to occasionally as the 2016-2017 season) begins.
Good timing to get a paper or electronic logbook from Concept 2 (if you haven't already done so?) and start logging your rows in the new calendar season. The C2 seasonal "participation" challenges (read lots of meters) happen year round, typically over a period of one month altho there are some as short as 7 days. Encourages and rewards the habit of fitness activity at daily frequency and gets us past the habit of relegating fitness to the acquisition of weekend warrior pulls and sprains.
If you like a good dustup with the unforgiving clock, there's the C2 Cross-Team Challenge in which the several teams participating take turns choosing a monthly challenge which can be completed in an hour or less but not always easily! In my experience a typical challenge is in interval format alternating periods of all-in activity with periods of rest. If you are the combative sort (I see your avatar is pugnatious!), you can find the current challenge at http://www.c2ctc.com. You will no doubt notice that no boat leaves the float without a woman aboard.
Don't hesitate to ask questions and enjoy!

Welcome aboard Fiona that is the correct team.Fiona wrote:Hi there ... I just joined your team - at least I think I did - Forum Flyers 2016? I hope that is the correct one. Anyhow thanks for having me and I hope I can contribute to this group! Fiona
You can log all your meters since March 15 now that you have joined the WEC - it finishes April 15. There are two other similar challenges each year that we try to get involved with.
You also sign up the CTC - http://www.c2ctc.com which is a totally different challenge run independently from Concept2 and varies from month to month
The April one starts today and you can log as many times as you like during the month and be placed in a virtual boat of 5 which must include a female.
You also visit the UK link at the beginning of this thread to see some conversations as well
There is a FB page if you are into that as well - some of us aren't very good with that.
Best wishes

Good evening,
would you guys have a free spot at the back with a slow erg in your affiliation/team please ? I think I am ripe for some of those team challenges to keep the discipline, motivation and variety going.

Re: Forum Flyers
Hi there papy - you are very welcome indeed. The CTC is really good for achieving those goals of variety and motivating challenges. just sign up to the CTC and nominate the forum flyers as your club. The challenge this month is 2', 4', 6, 8' with 1', 1.30 and 2' rest and record the meters from the 20 minutes active, rolling starts OK. Teams compete to nominate the next challenges so they are all very different.Papy wrote:Good evening,

The Flyers come from all over the world and communicate here and on the ISS site linked above.
What is your name? Where are you based?
best wishes

Have a go, Papy. Nobody is fooled by the old Belgian dude, Raymond, with the gasper. You may be our secret weapon!
Fiona, did you do better on your second try than on your current run? I recall a 2:26.x in the pace column. If so, put that one back up and make your mates happy!

Welcome Oliver!
After this weekend I'll be a bit more active on the CTC. Have been doing it a few times per month but plan on once a week at least after my tournament.
