LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
100M PB.
I have been trying to beat my 100M PB now and then for a month or so. I finally did it today. The previous time was 19.1.
New Time 0:18.7, pace 1:33.5. DF 155, damper setting 7. 33rd percentile. So I have a ways to go.
I checked in the standings and there are 9 guys ahead of me with 18.6. All I need it to knock another 0.2 seconds off and I will jump up in the standings a bit more.
My first crack at it today was 19.2 seconds so I decided to give it one more shot.
Next month I think I will work on the Half-moons to prepare for the full moon. Currently I am down the list at 17th percentile. The full moon I can’t do much worse. There are only 2 people behind me. Grin.
I have to say these interval workouts I've been doing along with the longer slower ones have been paying off. I am a bit bigger and stronger.
The getting more and more Mighty Thor.

Re: 100M PB.
Nice work Mighty Thor!! I have to research damper settings more as that's something I'm still not understanding. I have mine set at 3.5, but finding it harder to get up to and hold my heart rate in the 142-153 range I'm striving for lately. Instead of rowing faster, do you think it's better to increase the damper setting so I can keep my stroke rate at a number I can hold for long periods of time? And/or maybe the interval workouts you mentioned are the way to go. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thor MW wrote:I have been trying to beat my 100M PB now and then for a month or so. Wow E !!!
Congratulations on your 1MM !!!
Okay, I know apologies are in order for sneaking in a Wowee.
But, as long as I'm apologizing, I may as well double-down...
I am in awe, Thor. Congratulations on au-Thoring a magnificent PB.
Okay, that's it. Hope I don't have to apologize for anything else for what's left of this day.

Thanks Danwho.
Hey NG thank you as well and A couple of thoughts. If you want more private message me and we can share emails and chat offline if you would like.
If you want to keep your SPM low like doing a UT2 pace of 18 to 20 and HR in the lower band then I would suggest increasing the damper setting. Damper setting is sort of confusing but bottom line the higher the damper the harder the pull on the handle. Me and my partner Steve generally do some sort of interval work one day and a 10K UT2 the next day. When I trained myself and others for weightlifting I mixed up the workouts regularly. Doing the same thing over and over just isn’t conducive to making progress. Intervals is always done at your fitness level. Steve is ahead of me so we don’t compare with each other but rather with our own results with the last effort. Steve is not a Lune so don’t try to guess who I’m talking about. Grin. Examples of interval workouts are:
5 x 1500 rest 5 (endurance intervals)
4 x 1000 rest 5 (speed intervals)
4x2000r5.
8X500R3:30 if you want more pain.
There are many others I’m sure but these are a few we use. Programming the workouts is different depending on the PM you have so look up the instructions for your model.
Have fun and keep on rock'n.
Thanks Danwho.

Hi Navelgarden! Concept2 has a training guide that you might find useful: concept2.com/files/pdf/us/training/Training_Guide .
You might also check out concept2.com/indoor-rowers/training/wod for the Workout of the Day to add some variety to your rowing workout.

Re: 100M PB.
Jean M, one of the newbies and a darn fine person sent me the below link. dealing with Drag and Damper settings. I have the drag set way too high according to this person so perhaps listening to me on drag factor is not a good idea. Perhaps I said it before but I like a good pull to work my muscles. My first love it weightlifting but I no longer can do that so the erg it is. Perhaps I will use the suggested drag for my body weight in prep for the marathon training I will begin in 7 or 8 days. I haven't had a day off in a while so I might take a day off after the Mud Madness is over. . Got to let muscles heal, right? Read on McDuff.Navelgarden wrote:Thor MW wrote:I have been trying to beat my 100M PB now and then for a month or so. I finally did it today. The previous time was 19.1.

Re: He's A Meter Multi-Millionaire! AGAIN !
I still have the same model C I purchased in 1994. Just a couple months ago I had to replace the plastic foot plates - and that is the only thing I have needed to fix on it.Thor MW wrote:
Now there's a rocker folks. 66 million in the big bank. Wow!
Questions David, what model did you have in 1994? How many models did you have?
I was at a gym that had a very old C2. I believe it was a model B. It still worked but it was pretty rough. The foot plates weren't adjustable and I think the handle was sort of nasty too. Grin. Folks if your first model is a D you are spoiled.
Unreal David. Keep on rock'n.

I found myself in the local hardware store yesterday after hearing the forecast for more spring snow. I walked in and asked if they had any yooper scoopers. Pooper scoopers the gal asked....no YOOPER scoopers. They had never heard of them, but there hanging on the wall in shining Rockies purple was a yooper scooper. One of the fellows grabbed it off the wall, and now it is on my back patio....WAITING for tonight's snowfall. And I shall think of Duluth Moose every time I use it.
