I thought you were 19th out of 145. Apparently, I don't know what you are referring to.Edward4492 wrote:Took a short detour yesterday to do the 1K Sprints:

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
The weekend 1000m World Sprints. Haven't looked lately, but 19th in the yearly rankings sounds about right. May have lost a place or two after ranking my 3:23.3, had an SB 3:22.3 that got bumped when I ranked for the weekend event.
Should have been more clear. The only reason I did the 1000m was for the World Indoor Rowing Sprints March 11th to 13th

Second try at World Rowing 1K. Moved df from my usual 109 to 119; heel cups up from one hole showing to two trying to eliminate butt liftoff. Out too fast as usual so needed Peterson Pause midway; in the running for lfetime rookie award.
Good news 18.5" improvement from trial run on the 11th. PB by default as I never do these outside 4x1k. 48th percentile in 60-69 hwgt. Spot on 50th %tile In verified sort. I'll be happy if it sticks at 35th.

Nice improvement Jack! No "pause" for the 1000m.....just pull the ripcord and hang on till the end!
Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Good going Jack! Especially since, like Edward, you near the shady end of your age group.

Edward, the previously ranked effort can be restored. Means finding it on the log book but you probably have a "backup" hardcopy of "ranked workouts" with date of entry which eliminates scrolling thru month after month of results.

Thanks Jack, appreciate the response. If it was a top 10 I might bother; 18th or 19th? Not so much. But thanks again!
Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
well done jack! 1ks are my most hated intervals and the ones i struggle most with getting the pacing right, the fading at the end (or middle) feeling is horrid.
new 10k pb for me 37:29.2 40 second improvement on my previous time.
had a goal of 1:54 pace in mind before i started and was just under that at the midway point, from there i turned up the pace a bit then did a really hard final 2k.
was feeling really tired and sluggish at work today, i spent doing some heavy building work and got a 2k pb on saturday, so was considering just doing todays 10k session at my steady state pace of 2:00 a minute. really glad i didn't.
have 2k intervals planned tomorrow and right now everything hurts

Very nice 10k Zac! I agree, (4) x 1000m is the worst workout. The 500's you just blast 'em out, the (4) x 2000m I hit at more of a "distance" pace. The 1k's are seem like a 500m that never ends.

Yes that 10k is really clean, Zac. Calling your shots on pace all the way down.

4x1 is tough, but if the 500 feel easy, you simply don,t go hard enough.Edward4492 wrote:Very nice 10k Zac! I agree, (4) x 1000m is the worst workout. The 500's you just blast 'em out, the (4) x 2000m I hit at more of a "distance" pace. The 1k's are seem like a 500m that never ends.
Very nice 10k there. Still on the steep improvement fase. Enjoy

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
First post by a newbie...Having just started rowing on an erg in late October, I'm now up to 750,000 meters in just over 4 months. At 45 years old, I have lost 45 lbs since I began a fitness routine in Sept. The erg is now my everyday workout. I mostly manage to row 8500m 6 days/week. I throw in a 10k every now and then and some days I go a bit shorter distance. I LOVE this machine and it very well may have saved my life. I recently ranked a group of PB's on over the last couple weeks.
March 12: 1K = 3:21.1
March 2: 2k = 7:11.0
March 2: 5k = 19:10.2
March 13: 7856m = 30:00
March 1: 10K = 38:54.8
There is definitely room for improvement, but I'm pretty stoked about these numbers. Looking forward to my future attempts to break them.

They are seriously good numbers - well done indeed for this early in your training particularly as rapid improvement will continue for a while yet.
The C2 is a great fitness tool.
