Re: CRASH B's 2016 Erg Assignments
I sat one row up from Armando......he pulled an unreal race. Completely drilled the final 500m and moved past a bunch of boats for a 6:17.....An outstanding piece. Ross Love was neck -in-neck for the hammer and finished an angonizing 1/10 back with a 5:59.6 (I think), Then there was some controversy in the awards; if I heard it right a bull pen guy actually beat them both. Not sure how it got sorted out. No offense to the winner, he played by the rules. But I'm not a big fan of the bull pen. No other event in the world has people racing ahead of time or whatever they do. Subject for another day. Tom Phillips finally earned his hammer in 60-64LWT with a 6:49, missed the American record by 2/10. I'll let Bayco right the whole report, he does it best. Saw Cureton in the warm up pit, did not see him in the results. As for me, bit of a rough day. Tried to stay in medal contention, the Bronze was do-able, but simply could not handle the pace. Haven't seen the splits yet but the last 500m was ugly, finished at 7:11.5, good enough for 5th.Full report later.

Re: CRASH B's 2016 Erg Assignments
I did see where Borggard beat Castellan for 70+ HWt and, I believe, set a WR in the process. I know Borggard because when I first started erging it was his 65+ WR that I unofficially eased past by .4 sec. He did 6:52.1 today, which is what I was able to do on Sat. Course, his counts.
Also, I believe Anne Bourlioux set a 55+ WR. Not sure. I'm waiting for her to soar past me and Steve in nonathlon.
Ed, your last 500m was such because you tried so hard to pull it back in during the 3rd. Your 2nd 500m was telling you that it was not going to be a good day. The pattern reminds me of my first erg race. It slipped, slipped away.
I have no idea what Rich C. is up to. He just baffles.

Jim, 100% accurate analysis. Splits were: 1:45.7, 1:47.2, 1:46.7, 1:51.9
Unhappy with the result....but not with the way I raced. It's CRASH B's. My only chance to medal was to stay with the two guys sitting there; it was neck and neck for the bronze for the first 1500m. I figured somebody would fade at the end. I was right, shame it turned out to be me! Hats off to Frank Ventrano and Rich Krushina (spelling?) for keeping it together to the end. As for Cureton...

ranger's erg was empty during the race again. He should have been next to Simonsen who destroyed the WR. ranger has more DNS than finishes.

Wow. That is an amazing time at that age. Really fantastic.jackarabit wrote:James Castellan 70+ heavies: 6:55.6.
Said it in another post but I'll repeat it here - it was great hearing you cheer from the stands (even if I had no idea who that random person was until we spoke afterward).Edward4492 wrote:I sat one row up from Armando......he pulled an unreal race. Wish I could have met the other forum people who were there, unfortunately after my race I was in no conditions to try to socialize with anyone!
