I got so lucky the year I went. Gold in 40-49 with my meager 6:47. I knew it was just dumb luck but I'll take it. Makes my gold medal look more impressive.G-dub wrote:Nice Mark, Wovercast and Armondo.
It would have been nice to have seen your race Armondo. There was a couple 6:2xs in the 40-49 group too.

Nice Jack! That slow Wolverine work is paying off for you.
This thread moves so fast you miss some. Zac - very nice time at the 10K!
Armondo - very nice work too. Congrats! I missed that somehow between days not checking the thread.

This reminds me of two great sports-related "quotes":maestroak wrote:

A medal is a medal and it's not your "fault" if quicker people weren't there! So enjoy it and be proud of it.

Thanks. At any rate, it looks like G-Dub was mistaken (could be because they sometimes include people from different age classes in the same race). Ronin results say my time would have been second this year in 40-49. Although I don't see anyone from Rowbot, which is a bit strange. Wonder if it closed down?ArmandoChavezUNC wrote: This reminds me of two great sports-related "quotes":

By the way, nice time, pretty impressive you're second out of all the college crew guys as well.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Steve, you are right. It was the 30-39 year olds that raced before me. They had three in the 6:20's
They provided split times. Mine were:
1 - 145.9 / r34
2 - 146.1 / r33
3 - 145.2 / r35 (didn't realize I lowered splits through the 3rd 500 this much)
4 - 145.3 / r36 (clearly showing how much I was dying!)

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Managed a fairly substantial PR - dropped from a 6:23.2 at Atlanta Erg Sprints a week ago to a 6:17.8 yesterday at Crash-B's.
I have to say pretty much everything went perfectly in the lead up to and during the race. The one-week taper seems to have really helped, I was able to get a good night's sleep the night before (which is rare before a race), and I just felt great overall. Definitely wouldn't have had the sprint in me anywhere outside of the Crash-B atmosphere - I closed my eyes and just counted strokes.
Coming for that 6:15 by summer time.
