Hi All,
I have had cheap rowers for years just as a way to keep the blood moving but have never really taken it too seriously or even paid attention to pace etc. Last week, after 2 years of use, I snapped the return mechanism in my Stamina Air Rower and was surprised at how upset I was that my favorite exercise machine had died. When I originally bought the Stamina ($300) I told myself, if I used it regularly, when it dies I'm going to get a Concept2 as it is apparently the best of the best. So I immediately went and read reviews and bought a Velocity Magnetic Rower (cheapskate / $475 on Amazon). It arrived on Tuesday, I pulled everything out of the box assembled the thing and then plugged it in only to have "E2" display on the monitor (which apparently is only warranted for 90 days). Cursed, then realized the error of my ways and before I had even packaged the Velocity for shipping to back to Amazon, I ordered the one I should have bought 2 years ago.
My new black Concept2 Model D arrived yesterday and I did my first 5k on it this morning... wow this thing really is sweet. I get it now. No more cheap rowers from here on out. Happy with my purchase and to start with the community.
I'm 5'9, 200lbs and will not be posting my stats from todays 5k lol
Take care everyone and happy rowing.
"New" to rowing and just got a Concept2 D

How's it going.
Noticed this post and it relates to me a bit...
Got the model d in black in December
Are you keeping up to it?
I'm on a mission to do 1,000,000m before June, currently on 235,000 and finding it a bit tough but rewarding.
Are you getting on ok?

Re: "New" to rowing and just got a Concept2 D
I tried the million in 12 months a few years back but failed due to injury.
A mate suggested we do it again but in 90 days Jan to March. He says that interest disappears after 90 days and i suspect he might be right.
48 days in i have rowed 560,130 metres and have less than 440,000 to go. I try to do 14,000 in an hour and occasionally throw in the odd 1/2 marathon to make up any rest days.
It has been incredibly tough but when completed it will be a huge tick. The next problem will be what to do next.
Maybe 2.5m in 12 months?
Keep it up.
