Like Stretch, I have been calling my erg "Iron Maiden". She looks so innocent, stretched out in the middle of the floor in a suductive position. But once she is mounted, she has a personality as cold as steel. She is truely a midieval torture device reincarnated in my basement. After I am bound by my feet to the evil device, I realize that my cold damp dark basement has been transformed into a dungeon and the pain session begins.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

Mine is usually "Nemesis", but when on slides (and taking up the entire living room) it's "Behemoth".

I named mine Death Boat 2000 when I repossessed it from my mom in 2001.

"Death Boat" out of grudging respect for how it could kick my ass, "2000" because the already-outdated name made me feel superior.

Back at Portland State one of the guys on our team named all our ergs after Navy ships. The ones I recall are "Constellation" "Enterprise" "Coral Sea" "Saratoga" "Hornet" "Midway" and "J.F.K.". I know there was one more, which I want to say was the "Lexington" but don't quote me on the name of that one, it's been a few years.
It was actually kinda handy having them all named because they were old model B ergs and each had their own distinct personality. It made it a lot easier to pick out the one that you liked.

Heather Johnson
F21 5'7" 140lbs (and dropping! only 10lbs to LW!)
2k 7:27.1 6k 23:50.5 30min 7481 100k 9:07:27.7

With due acknowledgement to Damon Runyon, Equaliser.

Not sure I'd be able to pull on a machine named Coral Sea or Midway, tho' certainly those battles must never be forgotten.

I call mine *&#@ or sometimes ?"*#!^.

Actual name, Nemesis. After the quote by "Brick Top" in the movie Snatch.

Do you know what "nemesis" means?
A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent.
Personified in this case by an 'orrible #$%@... me.

I haven't named my machine, but my wife always refers to my workouts as "The Lake"...as in "How was your time on The Lake". She said this when it was out in the garage, the utility room downstairs, the spare bedroom, and anywhere esle I can find a machine while traveling.

After a good 10K workout on a warm day, I can see why your wife would think that you were erging on "The Lake".

Cheers,

Paul Flack
