Thanks Glenn. Maybe somebody (Henry/Greg?) can chime in with an idea what pace I should target on test day 2 tomorrow for the 2k  ?! Thinking about 1:43 with a 1:44 start?!

swapped the planned session for a 6k - its the only event missing from the nonathlon.

i would like to say i picked a strong pace and fought, but i honestly got confused and picked a pace that was a second faster than the 5k i did (PB) for the CTC earlier this month (1:50,5)...
still - not complaining :)
Marvellous 6k Dean. I guess that´s it and I will no longer be a suitable competition for you. Great work!
Took two days off due to family business (birthday party of father in law). Have to think about what to do tonight. Should be w3d1 since Saturday......

Pfff...you are faster on some...make me sweat to try and make your timings. Mind you I do a lot of volume. This month (ok it's the VTC = 350km already)

Indeed very nice. The speed will come, 2k speed is not that fast anyway, relative speaking. Fitness is number one there.
Thanks Henry.

Based on that 6k, you can expect 6k minus 6/7 seconds. But doing it the day after the 6 is a bit tricky. Think you should try to to keep the pace at 1.45 max, thats pace, not average. Keep it simple, just do the best you can, don,t pin yourself on a certain time.

I'm with Henry. I'd go out at 1:45 and if you feel really great at 1500, start cranking it up faster.

Only on those you haven´t tried in ernest. But that is fine by me, your efforts have made me work a little harder too. 260k on the VTC and some PBs I might not have tried without looking at yours.

Thanks Henry and Greg - I will go with that advice.

Test Day 2 of 4 day test - 2k -> goes into the bragging section due to a 1.6 sec-PB-improvement.

Well, if I were to bet on a race result I would put my money on you with your aerobic machine and your wing span. I don´t like it much either, so it was only my second finished serious effort ever (I tried a third one with a HD).

I think it was Eric and I both I think but I'm sure me mostly. I was getting better at negative splits until that chest cold. My target was solid just execution bad. No offense taken! Guilty as charged.

Your power is impressive Hardy! I've only seen mid 1:30s so far in my short rowing life.

Mike, it's OK to spit the bit and kick up your heels every so often. Trouble is the possibility of engraining counterproductive habits. A spook runs as long as possible whereas a standardbred pacer paces to the finish. (Lucky we don't have four feet or there'd really be some cockups!). Don't be spooked into jumping into that lactate bath too early.

Thanks Jack, I'm pretty patient overall.

Did 9000K today @ 2:17 flat. Forgot to set up the HRM prior, so not sure what HR was but was slow stroke rate consistently and I'm guessing around 150 to 155 HR most of it until it crept up at the end.

At this pace of training, I'll hit my first million meters in two weeks (lifetime). I'm averaging around 48K or so and I'm at 910K right now.

I know I've been kicked out of the PP thread but I had a thought that might resonate at some point to someone that may bump into a motivational and or physical wall. I have done some interval sessions lately that have been less in terms of quantity than the standard but possibly more in terms of quality. Like I did a 6 x 500 and a 4 x 500 and plan on this week doing a 4 x 800 (instead of 1K). What I noticed was that it changed my perspective a little and I felt more compelled to hit it harder than I was with the standard number, for obvious reasons of them being less marathon-like and since I really didn't know what pace was correct - i just knew it needed to be faster. What was nice was each interval was crisp and the splits are helping my ego. Prior to, it seemed like I was only focused on how many more of these dang things I had to do yet. I think I can now take that feeling into the next round and add 1 or two more each time until I get back to the standard numbers, rather than slogging it out with the standard numbers and being slower, which hurts the ego a little. So next time do 6 x 500 then back to 8. And after 4 X 800 do 4 x 900 and then 1K. Maybe it will unstick the progress that had stalled.
