Digital Rowing has acknowledged the problems on facebook and asked for patience as they try to resolve them.

The workaround of disabling networking on the PC that you are using will allow rowpro to function fine off line. Uploading to C2 or online rowing aren't going to work that way, of course.

Must be a bit of a major like the server went bang, its still not back up and running.

Still nothing as bad as this for the last 5 years so no complaints really, It's still working for a set distance/time option so the 30 minute rows can continue.

Server went bang...
Rowpro offline is working for me (without the disconnect internet workaround) just won't connect to logbook, maybe they had to roll back and haven't implemented the new logbook feature, yet...
No major biggie, I trust it will be working soon.

I see I can leave my lan connected and still do a "set piece". Can't go online although I'm able to upload my rows to the C2 logbook which is nice. Me and three pace boats are getting are our meters in so we're not shut down.

Yes no problem here now just leaving the internet connection alone and doing a set piece.

Still looks like the online is not back in operation as yet, looks like my 0430GMT row will be a solo row again tonight.

Quick question for those still having problems with RowPro having connection issues or crashing shortly after startup - and Windows forcing it to close.

Is Virgin Media your broadband provider?

I was having same issue - and a connection issue with the new V5 for Mac. Today - after a number of frustrating days - and emails with poor Pete at Digital Rowing, I appear to have the answer!

Virgin Media's 'Virus Safe' - which is on by default - appears to be stopping RowPro from connecting with Digital Rowing servers. This is accessed by logging into Virgin Media - My Apps - Web Safe. You can then disable Virus Safe (which should be fine as long as you're running your own AV).

The other option is to change the DNS to use Google Public DNS.

Simple answer, ditch VirginMedia. Move to a more sane ISP like Plusnet that doesn't have the net nanny crap.

VM has always been pretty good for me - been with the group for over 20 years (Nynex/C&W/NTL/VM).

Always had reliable speed/performance - I'm on 200MB and get 170MB+ on WiFi and usually more than 200MB when wired. And cheap as chips as part of my overall package.

And not so simple for me to change as I haven't got a BT landline connection - which I guess you need for most other providers.

Wow. Thank you heavysoul. Rowpro has not been working for a month now.
Turned off Virus safe from my VM account and hey presto! it worked again.
I too, am very happy with VM and am glad you managed to solve this. I shall stop pestering Pete at digital rowing now.

Echo the thanks to heavysoul. Rowpro stopped working for a while for me too, but followed the advice to turn off Virus safe from my VM account and it works again!

UPDATE
======

Well after discussion with Digital Rowing I installed a trial of RowPro 5 on my system alongside RowPro 4.3. Version 5 does work but isn't yet optimised for high resolution displays. But lo-and-behold RowPro 4.3 now works perfectly! I reported the fact to Digital Rowing who are currently at a loss to explain why but frankly I am just happy to have it working once more. I didn't really pay attention while installing Version 5 but I guess there must be some shared library that got updated.

Are you on PC or Mac ? I can see V5 is now out for Mac but am still waiting for V5 on the PC.

I am on a PC and was given access to a Preview Version 5 to see if it worked. As I mentioned it isn't yet optimised for high resolution displays but by using a second monitor I can get it to work. However I am convinced installing Version 5 somehow fixed Version 4.3 because it crashed immediately before I installed Version 5 and ran perfectly immediately afterwards.

Thats interesting I was about to ask Digital Rowing what they recommend for a display because my really old 2003 Plasma TV that I'm using for a monitor just died. It couldn't even display 800 x 600 it was really bad

Picking that the move to a Full HD TV or 1080p is going to be good enough for along time to come, probably a 100Hz. The big decision is whether or not to get an Android TV in the hope that I may eventually be able to get rid of the PC and run the USB cable directly into the TV and run RP as an App.
