I'm hoping that when he says he's coming back from Qatar, that it's for more than a short visit, and that he'll be too busy back in the states to erg quite so much :P

Well done, Team! I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful day today. I had a personal first...with 2 days left in the holiday challenge, and over 35K still to row...and a power outage...I had to do some rowing by candlelight...with no movie or music to help pass the time. I was afraid to put it off until the final day because there was no guarantee that the power would be back on before Christmas, and that was way too many meters to even think about rowing under those conditions.
I was surprised to find that I was able to greatly improve my ranking time for the 10K distance in spite of the dark and silence.

Well, that sure made for a memorable row. Anyone else hearing Sir Elton John singing Candle in the Wind?
As they say, when the rowing gets tough, the tough get rowing.
I had a taste of a similar experience. It was a while ago, and it was also doing a 10K piece for time. We lost power in the middle of the row. There was enough light coming in the window for me to see my monitor, so I decided to finish, because I was on track for a PB. It was a bit of a strain to read the monitor by the light available, and I did miss the music, but most of all, I missed the fan. ... And I did get that PB.

Happy Boxing Day, everyone. Santa gets some well earned rest, and K2 starts the long drive home. Maybe next year, the puppy will take a turn in the driving rotation. I'll try to fill in for stats for a couple of days.

Image
As you've already seen, there has been quite a bit of reindeer activity, including some candlelight vigils. Now it's time for the reindeer to get a little R&R at the Thundering Hooves Reindeer Resort (pretty sure Thor picked the place). But I think I'll wait for K2's return for a wrap-up of the Holiday Challenge.

Good job. I wonder what's up with the PB's and the silent dark? Maybe there's more to the space travel aspect of being a Luna-Tic than we think.

I was about 25 sec. off my personal best on a half marathon this morning, definitely the best half I've had in 2 years, might have to attempt it in the dark next time :) Funny how some days that little erg gets the best of you, and other days you get the best of it. I'm sure all those wonderful calories I ate leading up to Christmas helped fuel my workout today.

Love the Star Wars rowing picture! I wonder how they could even row in those outfits. On another note, Do we have a volunteer Mixologist for our virtual New Years Eve party this year? Time to put in your drink orders, everyone. I'm requesting a double Mud Slide this year.

Aww, Guinan's off-planet, this year? I was looking forward to a virtual evening in Ten-Forward ... :) I would normally be happy to volunteer in bartender capacity, but, we'll be out of town, and I am rubbish at doing anything more challenging than emails, on my iPad.

Does anyone feel like channeling their inner Tatooine and setting up a Mos Eisley Cantina (for humans only, of course), or simply keeping a list of drink preferences for our NYE posting? Some additional Virtual Team Fun, before the grueling Virtual Team Challenge.

Oh boy! I am away from my old grey mare and I miss her. All dressed up and no way to row. I should be back with her in the first week or two of the VTC though. I will have my work cut out for me then but I will do my best to crank out the Meters. Come light or dark. Grin. A buddy of mine might be joining the team for this challenge as well. We'll see if he joins the forum or not.
Happy meters folks.

Yah, Guinan! So great, to continue the Lunatic Ten Forward tradition.
Champagne, for me, please! I'll bring the silly hats and noise makers.

Yay, bg has her voice back, but now be careful not to be silenced by peanut butter getting stuck to the roof of your mouth.
You know, somebody actually named that phobia ...
Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.
We'll have to ask Guinan how to pronounce that.

Guinan! Great to see you! I think I'd like some fire and a show with my New Year's Eve cocktail.
So I'm thinking a Bohemian Style Absinthe Cocktail.
