Warranty of Model D bought in Germany

Post by psychopomp1 » December 23rd, 2015, 3:22 am

Hi,
I'm in the UK & about to buy a brand new black Model D (PM5) from Germany which is only €1049 delivered to UK, this works out at about £770 so nearly £100 cheaper than buying it in Blighty. My question is will Concept2 UK honour the warranty or will I have to get in touch with Concept2 Germany for any issues?
Cheers

Your contract / warranty is with Concept2 Deutschland GmbH and you'll be covered by German post-sales legislation (not by the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 except the parts for distance selling / internet shopping). You'd have to send it back for Germany in the extremely unlikely event of anything failing and needing a repair that you can't do yourself. Concept2 UK don't have to do anything for you for your grey imports you have no legal agreements with them.

These things are built like a chieftain tank so the question is moot.

Thanks Citroen. As you say they are built like a tank and its extremely unlikely I will require any repairs. This will be my second Model D, having bought the first one back in 2006 when i took it with me to Libya where I was working at the time. However had to leave the rower behind in 2012 when the civil war started so no doubt its got a new lucky owner - rower is still in pristine condition. Anyway I will chance it & buy the rower from Germany and save some dosh in the process :D

Since you're having it delivered, it will probably go trough customs.
Are you sure you're not going to pay import tax?
I think that's the main reason why C2 is more expensive in the UK then in the rest of EU.

It's EU. No import tax. The difference is the exchange rate to dollar. Not sure what the UK warranty is, but the German used to be 24 months ( by law)
