PM5 not recognizing Polar H7

Post by dpickerel » December 17th, 2015, 6:31 pm

HI,
I have both a new Concept2 D and Polar H7 hrt strap. I'm trying to get the PM5 to recognize the Polar H7, but i just keep getting "No Belts found" when i try to Connect Heart Rate.

The PM5 software version is 20.

The belt connects to my Samsung Android phone using the Polar Beat app but isn't recognized by Ergdata.

Am I doing something wrong or just expecting it to be too simple?

Thanks.

Remember that Bluetooth can only connect between one external device and your heart rate belt at one time. Try disconnecting from Beat and then turn wireless on in the PM5 menu. See if this allows Ergdata to see the H7.

i didn't know that, thanks.

What i'd like to do is connect straight from the belt to the PM5 so i can watch my heart rate without having the phone there. Is that possible?

It should be possible, that's how I do it.

This is disappointing. As I like to record all my workouts with polar bears. However I also want to record my heart rate with my RowPro workouts. Looks like I can only do one or the other.

There are no work arounds?

The only way I have been able to hook up a HR sensor to both the PM5 and my phone is with a Wahoo Tickr. This belt has both ANT+ and BT-LE. The ANT+ connects to the PM5, and the BT-LE connects to the phone. With the Polar H7, you have to pick one or the other.

For some reason I thought the H7 had both ant+ and Bluetooth. Am I wrong about that?

The H7 has bluetooth and the old Polar analog format. So it is a dual transmitter but not ANT+.

The H7 is perfect if you have an old Speedcoach, or a PM3 with the polar receiver. But if you have a PM4 or PM5, the wahoo Tickr is a better choice.
