Pumpkins
My pumpkins (yes, my lonely little pumpkin encouraged a friend to ignore the "pumpkins must be pimped" directive) met with an untimely growing end, when Juliette helpfully harvested them on Sunday. I'm sure I would have won the pumpkin competition if they'd kept going; it's still warm and sunny, here! They're now puree and about to become chicken pumpkin soup, and pumpkin molasses muffins. With a couple of bags in the freezer for Thanksgiving. (Some people just HAVE to have their pumpkin pie.)

I say you win - those pumpkins are gloriously orange - and they were sacrificial pumpkins. Well done, Minnie!
All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 11.11.15
Starts in 14 days !!! Anticipation !
The reindeer have started their annual migration to our Luniverse in anticipation of being claimed by Lunie ergers during the Holiday Challenge. For those new to this Lunie tradition, here's how the season of the reindeer works for us (or at least how I remember it).
1. Choose your charity - you want to get your two cents worth! You earn 0.02 US cents per kilometer erged for the first 100 K. Adaptive athletes and kids under 16 have a target of 50 K. This is the toughest $2 you'll ever earn.
2. While you are choosing your charity, make sure that your address is correct in your profile - because you'll want to earn your Holiday Challenge pin from Concept2 (and that takes a bunch of meters).
3. Once you reach either 100K or 50K, your charity cents are in the Concept2 bank...and you've earned your reindeer. Traditionally, we have started the names with the original eight from the Clement Moore "Twas The Night Before Christmas" origins...there is, naturally, a big push by everyone to be one of the first eight to reach the reindeer.
4. After you reach 100K or 50K, every kilometer you earn thereafter is worth 0.04 US cents. Some of our teammates have earned more than $10 during the Challenge for their Charity. Any direct personal contributions of real money that you wish to make towards the charity - well, you need to contact the charity directly.
5. Along the way, there are reindeer accessories that you earn from our Lunie portion of the Challenge. You earn antler lights at 200K, a flashing harness at 300K, a tail wag at 400 K, and an ear wag at 500K. If I have misremembered the milestone points...now is the time to correct me! Life has been a blur of fur lately, and I have slept soundly but not long enough.
Many of us first began our long distance trek while participating in one of the Holiday Challenges. Hooboy, it seemed like such an immense distance to cover in such a short time ! It's still a lotta meters in a relatively short time, but we are seasoned trekkers...and for those new to erging, seasoned trekkers can help you be successful with this Challenge, too. This year, we have 29 erging days from start to end of Challenge. I'm providing a chart to give you a quick snapshot of what kind of meters that will take (not that you couldn't figure it out, but I'm in imprint mode) depending upon your distance goal and the number of days you actually erg towards that goal. You'll want to give yourself a day off here and there. Stuff happens in the Holidays, and you will be busy. I know. Some of us will be deadline driven no matter what.
Yes - a typo on day 29 for the 50 m goal - it should read 1,724 meters and not 1.724 m ...rats. Perfection eludes again.

And then there were 12 days to the start...
There is much need for our special 8's in the world today. It is difficult to be safe and courageous, too, but we will all try to be those things. I always like the Winston Churchill quote "Never, never, never give up."
The moonlight was bright in our Luniverse last night as three half moons appeared in the skies above us! Good work by Roger, Ronnie and Tammy!

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I just read Palindrome by Stewart Woods. Not for the first time and probably not the last time either. Hmm, I suppose I should have been rowing while listening. Oops blew it. I’ve read almost all his books and there are many.
I checked my history the other day. I seem to get just over the 200K for the Holiday Challenge. I suspect this time won’t be any different.
Have fun all.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 11.14.15
Welcome back to Robert H, and Harold J. Great to see returning teammates on the roster...just in time for reindeer season. Today's numbers had a delayed capture, so I am sure that we've got some multiple postings here and there. The bighorn sheep are migrating here in Colorado, and I took a drive up to some wildlife viewing stations near Georgetown. Did find that there are some good trails that will get a hiker a good view of bighorns - especially earlier in the season. Meanwhile, we're set for some snowfall here....hunker down.

wooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooo and congrats :} and welcome back to our returning luna-tics :}
Goofy numbers or goofy guy.
Way to go Jeff! A big hello to Robert H and Harold G the sightless wonder and Canadian. Hmm, sound like anyone else we know and love?
Some interesting numbers.
Do Ron Ron 3,333,293 Lots of threes and one divisible by 3.
Tammy with 1,771,991. Just looks cool.
Norma’s counting up sort of. With thirty sevens. 1,437,537
Anita 1,425,088 and Daniel 1,400,088, are exactly 25,000 apart.
Paul Berge 499,094. Ok, it would look better without the 0 but we sure aren’t gonna take away metres from anyone including Paul.
Kenneth Guenther 333,955. Some repeating going on there. We all love firefighters. We all love firefighters. Long story short. My last guide dog was in the house fire and the firefighter guys got him out and put the oxygen cone on him. I ran in to one of them later and he hugged my dog. Wonderful humans they are.
Salvador Grimaldi 299,972, ok so 20 more metres would have made this perfect.
Patrick Homer 123,023 Close enough to be interesting.
Jay Rawot 118,181, pretty cool number.
Hey Nathan, almost a perfect count up. 2,415. Only need a 3 in there and some rearranging.
That’s all the numbers that jumped out at me for this day of days.
Happy metres folks.
Some interesting numbers.
Do Ron Ron 3,333,293 Lots of threes and one divisible by 3.
Tammy with 1,771,991. Just looks cool.
Norma’s counting up sort of. With thirty sevens. 1,437,537
