New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Thanks guys.
@ Bonefixer and Dean: IMO judging from your times and/or from your work you are posting you are both ready for a sub-2min-HM. I tapered for 2 days to make sure that glucose reservoirs are full. And I didn´t fool around with frontloading which I tended to do earlier this season. I learned that controlled pacing with negative splitting is the way to go.
@ rlboyles: Nice improvement for 6 months, congrats to your PB on the 30 minutes
@ Wombat and Jack: To put things in perspective, my old PB on this distance was exactly 5 months old, so it took over 1 mio. erging meters to make that improvement. So Jack, I am afraid that the road to 80min. will be quite a bit longer.
@ Ed: I am curious myself.

PB for 30:00 - 8383; 1:47.3.
Today's objective was 8350, so pleased to gather some strong data for the ultimate goal of 8400 by month's end.
5:00 splits:
1:47.8
1:47.3
1:47.2
1:47.2
1:47.7
1:46.6
Struggled from about 11:00 - 4:00, seeing some 1:48s and 1:49s. Need to iron out those weak spots, as in retrospect it certainly would not have killed me to hold 1:47.2 thru that bumpy section. But that's why we make a few attempts at a PB, to expose those cracks and have them shored up for next time.

Does not look like a huge bump to me Damien, and there are not very many meters missing to your goal. Very strong 30 minutes, continuos 283 Watts needed to do that. Thumbs up even if it is to be beaten shortly!Hillclimber wrote:PB for 30:00 - 8383; 1:47.3.

Up for me is the magic 8k-barrier, which needs only 245 W but which is still going to be quite a strain.

I think if you don,t struggle a bit in the third kwarter you are not trying hard enough. Pacing looks fine to me, even a bit a slow start

Thanks Hardy and Henry.
Agree faster start, better control at 10 minutes, and begin to crank up sooner in the final 5:00 - need to trust my form/fitness level. Before this season I had not seriously attempted the middle and long pieces for PBs - learning as I go.

Another monday, another attempt at a PB @ 1:00:00
Rocked it today...
Previous best: 14,430m

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Damien.....you're killin' it! looking good for "B"s this year.
Yesterday; 15 k nice and easy 2:08 pace. But extremely sore butt for some reason.
Tonight: (4) x 2000m at 1:58
Hit 'em all at 1:57.9, 213 watts 26-27r. Slowly working my way down. looking to get to 1:55 before the wheels come off. Not a brutal effort tonight by any means, but I'm starting to feel 'em. This year I'm looking for a nice long slow build to the race season. Truth be told I plan on getting back under 7:00 again. I have a totally different plan this season from last year. Feeling pretty good logging a steady 65 to 70k per week. I'm going to lose a week due to work travel next week, After that the schedule is clear and the final prep begins!

Thanks for joining in mate.
Plenty of people in the USA to row with I recon if you set something up on a regular basis or even a couple of times a week on set days and times, people like consistency and they will join.

Must have been up past my bedtime as intended my previous post for daily training thread. Not a PB. Out of the Edit window now. I can't even delete text and sub the "snakebite" (..)
Heck, let it stand, sit or lie down. Felt like Oxford and Cambridge there, Carl. Couldn't keep the tub on the screen with you fellers!

Pretty close though, just 0.5 sec. slower than your posted SB. Good work Jack!jackarabit wrote:Must have been up past my bedtime as intended my previous post for daily training thread. Not a PB.
