Whooooosh! That's the sound of you and your erg and ANOTHER month flies by!
Captured yesterday's numbers, and was on track for posting....and then this event happened, and the household has been turned on its ear:
Kai (rhymes with hi) is an 8 week old, EIGHTEEN lb, Golden puppy....very active....until she drops into a sound sleep (very much like a two year old).
I lost my beloved retriever Kona in late July - rather suddenly. It hurt too bad to talk about it even here, and I still tear up thinking about her. She is always with me - virtually now. The other retriever was very very sad at the loss of her companion dog, so I had to move perhaps more quickly than I would want to get her a new friend. In the meantime, I rode my bike for many, many miles. Of course, old puppy meeting new puppy is not always tail wags. Older puppy is almost 12, and needs her alone time. Stay tuned.
35 Lunies finished the Challenge (unless I counted wrong):
New to the Crew:
Dan O'
Chuck
Mike C
Stuart

I'm going to help out with stats for a few days, while K2 strives to bring some order back into the household.
Hopefully, it won't come to threats, but after all the Holiday Challenges, I understand K2 has quite a lot of pull with The Jolly One.
The new puppy's name, Kai, seems to be rich in meaning.
In Ancient Greek, Kai is a conjunction meaning "and"
In Basque, Kai is a common word meaning "pier of a harbour."
In Burmese, Kai means "strong" or "unbreakable"
In Mandarin Chinese, Kai is a common given name with one of several meanings, most often "victory", another being "open."
In Cornish, Kai means "dog", and so dogs are often given this name.
In Estonian, Kai is a female name meaning "pier."
In Finnish, Kai is a common male name, Finnish form of Kaj. The term "kai" also means "probably" in Finnish.
In Hawaiian, Kai means "ocean" or "ocean water."
In Japanese, Kai has a number of meanings, including "ocean," "shell," "restoration" and "recovery."
In Maori, Kai means "food."
In Navajo, Kai means willow tree.
In North Germanic languages, Kai means "keeper of the keys; earth". In Germanic languages, Kai means "quay" or "safe harbor."
In Scottish, Kai means "fire."
In Swahilli, Kai means "loveable," and is given to a baby girl.
In Urdu, Kai is short for "Kainat," meaning "universe".
In Welsh, Kai is a popular given name normally spelt Cai, from the Arthurian legend of Sir Kay.
In Wolof (Senegalese language) kai means "come."
I somehow get the impression that "come" does not yet quite fit. So for now, we'll go with "keeper of the keys," and hope that they're not the car keys. And we'll give them a little jingle for the special numbers.
