And on pumpkins, love them, but I have never been able to get my head around a pumpkin pie? Any good?

Along with peanut butter, pumpkin pie is definitely a cultural comfort thing (in my never to be considered humble opinion); and don't get me started on sweet potatoes baked with marshmallows on top. So wrong; I don't "grok" any of the above. Naked peanuts are fabulous, as are oven-roasted pumpkins and sweet potatoes as savory vegetables, or sautéed in curries ... mmm. I'm still looking at my solitary high-hanging pumpkin and wondering how to prepare it; I know what it's NOT going to be.

I don't really remember much about the AUS beer, only that it was very, very plentiful and very, very good. (Foster's notwithstanding.)

Funny thing about beer, drink enough and it is always hard to remember it But, hey I am yet to find anyone that likes Fosters.

Fosters has spent a lot of money advertising in the United States. All hype, no quality in my opinion. The opposite of Victoria Bitter. I need to find out if Fourex is sold in the Jnited States after this high praise. Tombeur.

But "grok" is really a reference to the Robert Heinlein classic, Stranger in a Strange Land, and is not so simple to describe.

Alas....fourth place has been spirited away....

These month long team challenges are not for the faint of heart. Ron is closing in on one million meters for this Challenge, and I'm sure that Richard T is already there whether by ski-erg or rowing machine or both. Individual contributions are kind of like volunteers - people do what they can or want to do. It's not like a business performance that you can manage...no, we have to cajole and motivate. This said, I am looking at the shortfall between 100K and where I am...and noting that there are THREE days of the rower left in the Challenge...Ah. It IS POSSIBLE!

Lost in a corn maze? It could happen. Pretty sure that I have never tried one of these out, but this might be the year. While there are many to choose from in this region of the US, with the haunted ones excluded, two choices seem attractive. There is the usual endpoint desired of escaping from that which surely has snakes and rats (food chain in action!), and the endpoint that also says you either solve the Farm Scene Investigation (a cornfield macabre setting in which you must determine which farm animal bumped off Farmer Brown or Green, and what weapon the perpetrator used by solving the 18 or so case scenes that you encounter while you are children of the corn), or the more Disney-esque version where you help Farmer Green or Brown round up the missing farm animals by encountering life size cut outs of said farm animals while you wander through the corn looking for photo ops among the stalks. This could be an afternoon's entertainment or terror. C'mon! GET OUT THERE AND DO THESE THINGS - is good for you! Especially if followed by a visit to your local brew pub to wash away the dust.

Oh, no no no, fearless Astrogator ... there's a reason that the makers of horror movies love to film in cornfields. They are obviously very scary places. Not my genre, but have you ever watched "Children of the Corn," "The Stand," or "Signs." ?? No creepy cornfields for this Lune; I'll just join you at the brew pub, afterwards. We hope this is finally the year, but it is already a success beyond all expectations. Once again the wizard from the cold patch has shown what a great manager he is. I am referring to Joe Maddon. He did it with on a shoestring in Tampa and now he has done it again for the Cubs – three years earlier than anticipated! We are keeping our fingers crossed! Tombeur
