LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Hey Team, The family vacation starts tomorrow, so I'm sorry I'm going to have to cut out on the remaining 5 days of the challenge. I hope the best to all of you and a strong finish to the challenge. I will be doing some sea kayaking in Mexico, but I don't think I can count those meters

He's A Meter Multi-Millionaire!
Whoop, whoop and way to go! Congratulations, Thor, on achieving a TWO million meters season...and the season is not even halfway done! We wish you many, MANY more !
All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 10.9.15
Caught between the Ancients and the Free Spirits...at FOURTH!
Those Ancients are a wily bunch....and we surely need a bit of Roadrunner at the moment! Really great rowing and ski-erging !
Meanwhile.....it wouldn't be FALL without pumpkins! And what's happened with our Lunie pumpkin growing contest anyway?! As you may recall, three teammates indicated they were growing some pumpkins for contest consideration. Of course, this sort of endeavor rarely runs according to plan. Richard T and I both ordered some seeds from those who claimed to have grown giant pumpkins. All I know is that the seeds I received had a failure to launch. Zippo germination. Not even a hint of green sprouting. Back to the drawing board and nursery I went, and bought some starter plants. Richard T apparently had pretty good luck...and the area bearlife thought so too, and enjoyed the pumpkins he grew as a snack (the old "the bears ate my pumpkins" story...hahaha...except it was true!). Minnie's pumpkins grew as wonderful vines....with nary a fruit resulting from the blossoms (team discussion ensued about how to pollinate...and Minnie says nope...if it isn't natural, it isn't happening as she wasn't willing to play the part of the bee...wise woman). Subsequently, I think Minnie might have had a pumpkin...but we'll need an update.
The starter plants I had did grow in the unusually rainy and cool Colorado summer. And then the blight struck. Pumpkins get blight? Oh yeah. Only some of them were affected, and the result was that the vine died and I was left with three really small but very cute pumpkins. This was the vine that had escaped the confines of the garden. Other vines in the garden were okay.
The small ones
A medium one
The biggie....almost a foot across
And so the pumpkin patch awaits the arrival of The Great Pumpkin....just like Linus. I did learn a lot about pumpkin blight - and the need to spray a mix of milk and water on the plants if you get it -, and am working to prepare the soil for bigger and better pumpkin growing for next year.

I think someone's undies are a bit too tight.danwho wrote:Elk bugling, does it work? Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, but it seemed I kept catching "What's up with you, pal" looks from the females.
But lots of fun for the human viewer. Thanks for posting.
That was very interesting. Thanks.

Like the Star Wars denizens of deep space that we may encounter during our Galactic Journeys, we are now in Klingon mode as we try to hang on to the FOURTH spot in the Challenge....no podium spot for fourth btw....just sayin'
Some good meter uploads in the last 24 hours, and teammates are edging ever closer to personal milestones! Of course, Minnie just hula hula'd right past hers. Ed is close to his FOUR million meter milestone, and Larry sees the ONE million meter flashing light in the distance. We're now in the FINAL FIVE days of the Challenge! Goooooooooo Lunies!
