Looks like the world lost one of the good ones......from rowing to education to all around good person. I know nothing of her except what I've read the past year or two. my condolences to her family and friends, she will be missed.

Everyone had been amazed at her continued success on the water even in the midst of chemotherapy and even more amazed at her determination to remain cheerful to the very end.

Although she had her major triumph as a single sculler, she was always very much the team player, very supportive of other members of the Long Beach club and of the USIRT, as well as her crew mates in the masters' eights. I certainly appreciated the support that she and husband, John, gave to me in my own erging efforts.

Bob,

You're good to post this news. Joan was exceptional. It's sad how this forum, on which all once admired her, no longer knows who she is.
